Myself and Chris decided that a day trip to Savannah would be a great way to spend a beautiful Saturday. I don't recommend this after having done it. We had pleny of time to see everything, however with the driving and seeing everything.. it was just a bit too much that we asked of ourselves. We arrived into Savannah around 3:30 after our visit to Tybee Island (see other entry). Armed with a map, our first stop was in Forsyth square. This is the biggest square in the town and was full of locals (there is a college nearby) and visitors. There were fields with people playing frisbee, soccer, and other games. There were even tennis and basketball courts. Trees filled with Spanish Moss hung over the sidewalks and monuments honored men from the past. There ... read more

After much ado, the blog is back… The last few weeks have been busy, both Hope and I working as well as two trips (2 for me, 1 for Hope) to Florida to visit the Villages, where my Grandparents live. Hope also took a trip to SC to visit her family. The adventure we took together to Florida was a lot of fun. We were able to spend time with my cousin Rachel, her friend Beth, Uncle Dan and Aunt Teresa. Our schedule was booked solid with sipping cocktails poolside and zipping around the retirement community on their top of the line golf cart. One afternoon we hopped in the Stang and headed south to Lakeland to catch the Detroit Tigers opening of spring training. The Tigers destroyed Florida Southern 14- 0 and we had access ... read more

Since Hope and I have arrived in Savannah we’ve spent most of our free time finding our way around town. We’ve been staring at maps and making wrong turns to locate close by grocery stores, the nearest Sam’s Club, and of course Hope’s hospital. Most of our quest has been for a gym and we’ve finally found one that meets our standards, although it was no easy task as the facilities were either too small or too smelly. We’ve apparently become gym snobs. Our apartment is spacious compared to Tahoe. We actually have adequate closet and cabinet space. It’s located in “Georgetown,” which is on the south side of Savannah. Georgetown isn’t like the charming historical downtown. It’s full of suburban strip malls and apartment complexes. But it’s none the less safe and convenient to the ... read more

I know, I know, I know.....I left many of you hanging! For that, I apologize! Once we arrived in Orlando (Portofino Bay Hotel) I kinda lost track of where I was and what I was doing. Travel can do that to a person after awhile. Not to mention I was sick for a day or so and out of commission. The mammas were left to their own devices. Oh boy. Look out Orlando. Here come the mammas. They ended up having a great time on their own! They hung out by the (gorgeous) pool and dined at one of my favorite Italian restaurants, Mamma Della's. Of course they started talking about "the hill" (a.k.a. Federal Hill) with one of the singers/workers who serenaded them. Because it was my mom's 16th B-day she received a free desert, ... read more

Well as you may have noticed my blog is a little light on entry’s, this is for several reasons, the first being I am having too much fun to sit in front of a computer and type a load of waffle about all the amazing places we have been and the things we have got up to; following on from the first point we have been to so many amazing places and got up to so many amazing things that I would end up writing a novel! Suffice to say this trip has been fantastic, this country is so diverse, big cities, small towns, big mountains, big valleys and canyons, wide open plains of absolutely nothing, to fantastic beaches, I have picked my jaw up off the floor countless times. (Oh and some big ass scary ... read more

April 5, 6 &7 - Hilton Head, South Carolina --- The RV parks we choose keep getting better - the Hilton Head RV Resort in South Carolina is phenomenal. The azaleas are in bloom and our site has a hedge of them. Great pool, hot tub, etc. Beautiful landscaping. Snack bar until early afternoon. The only thing that might be missing is the nice Tikki Bar and pub food we enjoyed at the RV Park we stayed at in Sarasota. April 7 to Savannah from Hilton Head via water taxi. Signed up for a historic tour via trolley. Good narrators - riders can hop on, hop off at some 15 stops. Nice way to get a quick (90 min.) orientation. Lunch at the Pirates’ House southern style buffet for him; shrimp and oysters for me, a ... read more

January 8, 2005, Saturday. Our destination today is a fun trip to Lazy 5 Ranch. We took a horse drawn cart, with buckets of food for the animals. The “Lazy 5” is chock full of hungry animals: water buffalo, giraffes, goats, pigs, deer, etc. etc. It was a neat place for the young and the “young at heart”. January 9, 2005, Sunday. Off we go to Savannah. We had reservations at Skidaway Island State Park, a few miles SE of Savannah. We managed to get in a short bike ride along a nature trail before dark. January 10, 2005, Monday. We drove to the outskirts of Savannah parked the Bothan and headed out on our bikes, to explore. Lots of lovely squares, mini-parks, with huge oaks carefully draped with Spanish Moss by mother nature. We biked ... read more
