St Petersburg, FL - Weeki Wachee FL Moochdocking – Jennie & Dennis house Days 9 - 10 After four nights in St Petersburg, it was time to move on. We headed to meet up with Mark & Karen at Mark’s sisters (Jeannie & Dennis) house. We took our time breaking down and heading out. The drive to Weeki Wachee was about 70 miles, we took FL Route 589. It was a pleasant change from all the driving we did on I95. The one thing we are learning about Florida, is you cannot get anywhere without traveling on a toll road. I refuse to look at our EZ Pass account until we get home! We went to Weeki Wachee to meet up with Mark & Karen. They have been keeping their RV there while ... read more

Blythe Island GA - St Petersburg, FL Days 4 - 8 After another one night stop we looked forward to stopping for a couple of days. It was a easy ride from Blythe Island to St Petersburg, most of the trip traffic was moving, and it was not until we got to Tampa that we hit stop an go traffic. We made reservations at Robert's Mobile Home & RV Park. It is a mix of permanent mobile homes, long term RV's and transient RV's. When we checked in at the office, the receptionist told us to wait at the office, and someome would come in a golf cart to escort us to our site. We used that time to disconnect the Jeep. Not only do they escort to your site, they guide/direct you into the site. ... read more

Anyone who genuinely and constantly with both hands looks for something, will find it. Though you are lame and bent over, keep moving toward the Friend. With speech, with silence, with sniffling about, stay on the track. Whenever some kindness comes to you, turn that way, toward the source of kindness. -Rumi Early Sunday morning. We had a long and deliciously slow day in Sarasota with our fren Erin yesterday. It has been a space of kindness, and one I am loathe to leave behind. But the road awaits, and North Carolina awaits, and our Air BnB awaits, and the grandson’s play awaits, and we have things to figure out, and next steps to take, and in order to not kill ourselves, we’ll leave at some point later today and once again hit the road. Our ... read more

Where is the time going? It’s truly flying by, that’s for sure. It’s December now but guess what? You have to get back in your time machines and back it up to the month of November. We have been very lax in our blogging. Let me think of a good excuse…..hmmmmm - I have none. Give me credit for honesty. If not credit…I love cookies! If one hurricane wasn’t enough to survive, we were faced with a second one during the month of November. Hurricane Nicole managed to hit the entire state of Florida. We aren’t used to this in the North, you know. Maybe you got a few remnants of it where you were located. Hope you stayed safe. This time, we decided to weather it out in our RV as most all our friends ... read more

Then who (then who), tell me who (tell me who) Tell me who was this neighbor kind and true? From Jerusalem to Jericho we're traveling every day And many are the fallen ones that lie along the way -Hank Williams If I have my way, this will be the last long driving trip I ever take in my life. We left Apocalypse State Park (Motto: Enjoy Our Rotting Cactus) late Wednesday morning and made our way south and east through the heart of Texas (Motto: The Really Big State) down to Austin (Motto: The Dark, Blue Rose of Texas) to finally meet in the flesh our good friends Carol Anne and Jerry. We had a lovely evening with them, speaking of the world, and ourselves, and our paths through this world, and our paths through ourselves, ... read more

In summary; This was my first time ever visiting the state. Layovers on flights don't count, right? Ha! One month after entering, I am traveling along the panhandle on my way out. The military provides so many MWR (Morale, Welfare, Recreation) places to camp on or near bases, that I have really been spoiled in this state. I believe there are about 20 throughout Florida. I started off in Jacksonville at one of my favorite places! Disperse camping for 4 months now has made me really appreciate some simple things in life. First off the camp space is only $11 per night. They offer a full kitchen, free laundry, free ice, an incredible clubhouse with tv, tables, games, outlets to charge devices and internet. There were constantly fun entertainment items provided to keep a person involved ... read more

Living the lives of retirees and snowbirds, we have so many opportunities to enjoy ourselves and have some great fun times! We hope you can enjoy some of these festive occasions along with us. Remember: the more the merrier! Halloween at Tropical Palms was almost a week long in celebration. YAHOO! Our activity director, Janet, and her assistant, Cindy, have really been working hard to make sure there are plenty of things to do here at the park to keep everyone happy. They are succeeding! They organized a Halloween golf cart parade…..actually two of them….but we only participated in the first one. We decorated our golf cart with lights, pumpkins and skeletons. Cory was very scary in his Skelton mask (just in case you didn’t recognize him). Dave was brave and unafraid to jump on board ... read more

Nearly 3 months ago, I dropped my husband Don off at a parking lot near the Seattle Airport with his friends. A quick peck kiss, a hug, and he jumped in the car and just like that he was gone and I was on my own. He has been very much involved and participating in his own journey as I have been in mine. Finally after all this time, I get to see him. With a few fibs, Google Map stocking, hours of driving, help from friends (thanks Ethan & Amanda), I drove up to Don while he was peddling down the road. I am not good at lying, so he knew something was up, but seeing me in person was certainly a surprise! He is skinny, sun bleached shaggy hair, but still my guy and ... read more

For the past few years as my traveling experiences were compiling, I purposely avoided Florida. Why? I knew years ago that we were going to be here for a long period of time (1 month). So far I have only experienced the Jacksonville area near my camp and I am so impressed. This is how winters should be spent! I am camped out at Pelican Roost Campground on the Jacksonville Navy Base. My tent door is facing the ocean, I am surrounded by palm trees with brown pelicans flying overhead, a nice gentle breeze keeps me comfortable in these mid 80 temperatures. Awwwwww. There is so much to see locally, within walking distance. It wasn't until my second day I finally took a ferry from Mayport over the St. John's River. On my list to visit ... read more
