Fountain of Youth
St. Augustine, FL
You never know, it's worth a shot. We drank out shot of water to increase the longevity of our lives. I heard that it tastes bad, but I thought it was fine. In summary; This was my first time ever visiting the state. Layovers on flights don't count, right? Ha! One month after entering, I am traveling along the panhandle on my way out. The military provides so many MWR (Morale, Welfare, Recreation) places to camp on or near bases, that I have really been spoiled in this state. I believe there are about 20 throughout Florida. I started off in Jacksonville at one of my favorite places! Disperse camping for 4 months now has made me really appreciate some simple things in life. First off the camp space is only $11 per night. They offer a full kitchen, free laundry, free ice, an incredible clubhouse with tv, tables, games, outlets to charge devices and internet. There were constantly fun entertainment items provided to keep a person involved and busy. I will be going back!
After Jacksonville, I drove West to meet up with Don and James during their bike ride trip. It was a very long 7 hour drive to surprise them. While it was fun hanging out with them and seeing up front what it was like for them to bike all day, eat a TON of food, and be

Friends and family from home were sending us pictures of snow covered ground so we snapped this one off to share back. A beautiful day to walk the beach. on the move again the following day....I just didn't fit in with their plan. I was going to follow them to Key West to the most Southern point but last minute split off to do the state on my own. I did another long drive to Tampa which went from 0-100 in seconds. Hurricane Nichole hit, the base flooded closing some vital areas (bathrooms/showers), that I had to move into a hotel for a few days. Once she passed, the sun was out and the beaches were beautiful again. Bi-polar Tampa!
Another long drive to Key West where I hung out for a week. The lovely islands have great food, beaches, warm weather and lots of wildlife. The humidity and boredom chased me out of there. I hadn't planned on spending so much time in a dream location ALONE. It burrowed deeply on me. I wanted out! I am sure it could be wonderful under different circumstances. Once Don arrived, I put my foot on the gas pedal and drove North as fast as I could. Together we got to experience Hwy 41 through the Everglades, some of the MWR camps I had been at previously including Jacksonville where

St. Augustine, FL we celebrated Thanksgiving Day. We planted our feet down at Holbrook Pond, GA so we could experience Savannah together. We did a lunch cruise on a steamboat, walked through Forsythe Park, drove to Tybee island, and I tell you what...Savannah is beautiful! I would gladly go there again.
Hand in hand Don and I are now heading towards Houston Texas to house sit for James & Rita. It will be relaxing to be in a house again with a bedroom, kitchen, full bathroom, and all the other amenities that go with it. We are both camping together now. Don is trying to adjust to not eating so much. I am trying to adjust to not being alone. It is great to have someone by my side during a thunder storm, to talk to, play games, it is just great having Don back. Excuse me, but I have to get back to my adventures!
Sandy toes and sun kissed nose.
