Wow, is the only reaction that I have. I can't believe we are this close. It just reminds me of how much work we still have to do. For those who haven't read my previous journals. 17 people from my local church will be leaving for Romania 2 days after Christmas for a "humanitarian" missions trip to Romania. We will be giving away coats, boots, food and other necessities to the Gypsy people of Romania. Yesterday we kicked off our "What's in the box?" campaign. We asked the people of our church to purchase a ornament sized box for $10. This box represents a Christmas gift to a person in Romania. $10 will buy a winter coat, a pair of boots or a bag of food. The response was great! We sold about 65 boxes yesterday ... read more

1 month left until we leave for Romania. Anticipation seems to be mounting. I think that I am more nervous than anything. Just how cold will it be? Will I be able to learn enough Romanian to communicate? Will the people be receptive to us? I have about a million questions racing through my mind. Not to mention all of the things that I still need to take care of before I leave. Christmas shopping, my birthday party, the Christmas party, paying my bills while I am gone, registering for school. It's enough to keep anyone crazy busy. With all that is going on, I'm sure the next 4 weeks will fly by! A little more about our trip. We are a group of 20-somethings from a local Orlando church that will be spending 12 days ... read more

. . . and counting . . . We are all beyond excited. The plane tickets are purchased and plans are in motion. Time is flying by. I can't believe it is Thanksgiving already. We still have a lot of money to raise. We plan to purchase coats, boots, food and anything else we can give away. It is cheaper in Romania, but certainly not free. We just want to be a blessing to our Romanian brothers and sisters.... read more

Alright I’m almost packed. I still have an hour to go so I’m not freaking out yet. But when you are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime you want to be sure that everything's in order. For instance: I was at quite a crossroads as to what attire should be worn at the Oktoberfest. Now of course we could go like any other American tourist, jeans, t-shirt and a baseball cap - but I’m the guy who wears a kilt on St. Patty’s day so the Old Navy special wasn’t going to cut it. So to that end, I’m at my parents house last night discussing the trip and picking up a few things from their place, and while musing my dad overheard me talking about Lederhosen and how I wish I had ... read more

Ahhh in just over 24 hours we will be Europe bound. Is it any indication of how ready I am to go that I am writing this from work? GET ME OUT OF HERE. With some last minute shopping and packing I hope we’re both ready by this evening, but Kamrin assures me that she is a wiz at last minute packing, and could put it all in the suitcase in less than an hour before I pick her up. After seeing most of her close strewn along the steps to her new apartment due to a card board box malfunction during last weekends move, I have all the faith in the world that little lady is a packing marvel. There has been some debate on what exactly to bring. What’s the weather going to be ... read more

Maar misschien ... read more

Hallo allemaal,   Even een korte update... Groetjes,   Ramon en Lud PS Morgenavond vliegen we ... read more
