“ You can’t try to do things; you simply must do them” Ray Bradbury First thing we did this AM was to return to Siesta Beach for a walk. It was a cool, breezy, sunny morning. I think we would like to return her one-day. After our shower we were off to meet Bob friends in Ellenton, a reunion from his workplace. We made one stop at Mixon’s orchards, what a super place, I had my first kumquat. There is a method for eating these goodies. Wash well, roll back and forth in your hands, pop the entire thing in your mouth and chew. The inside is sour and the skin is sweet so it is a contest for one’s taste buds to figure out what to do. We had fun tasting oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, ... read more

“ALL KNOW THE WAY. FEW ACTUALLY WALK IT”. bodhidharma January 25, Monday. Our first stop was a bike shop to get Bob’s tire repaired and then on to an internet cafe to update the Travelblog. We traveled down Highway #1 to Bahia Honda State Park. This is a coveted campground on the beach. In 1992 it was voted one of the best beaches in the USA visit Dr Beach to see the list and how he rates beaches. But about five years ago a hurricane changed all that. It is still a very beautiful place to visit. It is one of the many state parks in Florida, and this state has a great park system. Several parks we stayed at were voted BEST STATE PARK. We walked along the beach, had lunch and moved on ... read more

All those that wander are not lost We left the Oscar Sherer State Park and headed back to the 24/7 to finish up our computer work, then drove north to Sarasota to meet Bob and Sara Zavos. We met at the Ringling Museum, besides their regular collection, there was a great Ansel Adams display of his black and white photographs of the natural beauties of our country. We found our campground in Siesta Key and went for a bike ride to Crescent/Siesta Beach, again voted one of the best beaches in our country. The sand is white and fine, like confectionery sugar, and the beach is quite wide and very lovely. The four of us has a nice meal at Sweet Tomatoes, wonderful salads and pasta, plus. We drove back to the sailing club for ... read more

“ I don’t believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive “ Joseph Campbell Well we are leaving the Keys this morning, but promise to return. We stopped at the World Wide Sport Shop, great place to shop for sport/fishing stuff. We picked up the Tamiami Trail and went back into the Everglades, to Everglade City. We took the boat ride in the Florida Bay among the ten thousand islands. Our trip included a dolphin sighting, it seems the dolphins like to swim behind the waves made by motorboats. They are such graceful creatures and seem so happy. Our evening was in Naples, where he had a super Brazilian meal and decided to go to the movies. “Meet the Fockers” was a light ... read more

” The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysteries. It is the source of all true art and science“ A. Einstein … Web Places; if you run your mouse over these and click on the name you can learn more about the place we visit. Key West Dry Tortugas Fort Jefferson National Park January 28, Friday We were up early enough to watch the sunrise. On this little island we didn’t have to move very far. After breakfast we went kite flying. The wind was just perfect. Bob has a “stunt” kite with two cords controlling the kite, mine was much simpler but lots of fun. By 10:30 the boats began to arrive with lots of those tourists disturbing our peace?! We managed to catch up with the tour this time and had a ... read more

” The voyage of discovery is not seeking new landscapes but having new eyes. Marcel Proust “ January 26, Wednesday Fishing Day meant an early “get-up”. I made the lunches and Bob went to purchase the bait, squid and shrimp, and Rob was already cleaning up the boat. All aboard and off we went on a beautiful calm sunny morning. Floyd was my fishing tutor and Bob worked with Rob. The rods were big and at first a little awkward. The first stop was to “catch more bait” and that we did. Every time the line went into the water another fish bit! Cutting and baiting the hook, from my perspective, was a dirty job, but getting the fish off the hook was even more of a challenge. My first catch was a 22” grouper! Unfortunately ... read more

Arrived New York in snow storm. Absolutely freezing but beautiful. Dumped everything in hostel, then found pizza and wandered around the city near Central Park for a few hours. Remember Famiglia pizza... it was great. Locals friendly, Metro easy, roomies old! Left for Miami via Chicago next dy at 1pm, spent morning walking Central Pk and taking "snow" piccies, back in 3 months. Planes were delayed and arrived Miami 2am. Trashy, cheap, colourful and American. People are complete tarts and everyone wants a tip. Did the Everglades airboat, played with Larry the baby alligator. Got lost in Teds Hideaway and drank too many coronas and cowboys. Clocked up dinners with Greg, Mario nd Kiki before leaving. Didn´t pay for anything but learnt how to salsa, samba and do the naive departure before groping began. They were ... read more

So, this would be my first journal. Hopefully, all of this will appear ok when I'm finished typing and whatnot. So recently, I transfered schools and I am now living it up in sunny Florida. Yes, it's sunny, right now, actually, at almost 6pm in the middle of winter. Those ad campaigns weren't kidding. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. In the last year, I have managed to live in three separate states. That is rather impressive of me but at the same time extremely frustrating. I lived in PA for most of the year, the area my school was in was dead, backwoods type stuff. Not for someone like me who grew up in NY about 20 minutes via the LIRR. So, mainly due to location and all that other garbage I know go ... read more
