Like any dream, my huge larger than life dream of traveling the world has been met with a variety of responses: 1. How can you afford that? One site I have found helpful is www.budgetyourtrip.com. This site allows you to see three different types of travelers budgets both in the currency of that country and in American dollars. I have based mine on the medium luxury which is actually more than I will actually spend in most places but it ensures I have the money. I'd also advise you to set up an account called travel and every week put a small amount in here even if it's only a dollar or two. This money wasn't saved in a week or month but it took about 10 years including me not moving to a bigger apartment ... read more

"You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own and you know what you know and only YOU are the one who will decide where to go." -Dr. Seuss While I haven't left the country borders yet, I didn't want to wait to start writing. The hardest part for me seems to be deciding where to go and for how long. Traveling the World seemed like a good idea in theory but I can't figure out where to start first. As many of you know I left my job and now have the freedom to take some me time but the hard part is the adjustment from working for a corporation that told you exactly how to do things suddenly ... read more

Friday the 13th was thankfully not a day of disasters although parked up on the grass, surrounded by woods and a bit of standing water in hot and steamy conditions bought the little biting insects out again last night. This particular lot seemed to be attracted by Deet rather than repelled so after breakfast the spotty legged twins waved goodbye to next doors squawking parrots (and kids) and headed off on foot along the track from the KOA to the entrance of the safari park only a couple of hundred yards away. Being a Friday, and the 'off season' meant there was virtually no one around and we had the place to ourselves. Rather than take a 30 foot RV around the park to be savaged by rhinos and lions, we were advised by the KOA ... read more

A leisurely day today as we moved further south down the east coast on our journey towards the southernmost point of the USA in Key West. After a nice lie in till 8-30 in the sweatbox, a breakfast of bacon rolls and coffee set us up for the day. Detaching all life support this time was a challenge as the heavens had opened...and when it rains in Florida, it really rains! Not wanting to be unplugging 50 amps of electricity whilst standing in a puddle with the rain falling we delayed our departure for half an hour until it had eased off to 'slightly spitting'. The plan today was to hit the road and stay away from all main roads in the 200 mile drive south. Sadly the A1A is not quite as scenic or scary ... read more

The girlz were raving about the mustache jawfish found by the Casey's close to the west wall and Steve's juv spotted bumble bee. Talk about cool things to look for!! It has been raining a lot and we skipped yesterday to run errands plus the battery of my truck took a pooh. I started the dive with Steve and then felt behind. The nudis that like in the algae that looks like a thick fishing line in a ball are back. They were everywhere and all sizes. I tried a couple of ID shots but I wanted something more colorful. It's hard to find them isolated from that ball. I guess I passed the dip because I saw a boat going in top of me. I found the dip and photographed a baby lobster and I ... read more

For this blog, Sofia typed or told me what to type. As she just turned 8, I think it is time to pass it off to her. Though, I do think she may need some help on details for our next trip which is less than 1 month away - Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Singapore. We are both really excited about the adventure..... ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, first we went to our hotel on Okeechobee road. We got settled in our room in La Quinta. After that, we went to Subway for dinner. It was really good. But then......We Went To A Concert! Not just any concert. Victoria Justice and Big Time Rush concert - Uh Huh. That's right. I got a Big Tim... read more

It has been about a month since we posted last, so we decided it was about time to give our readers an update on our current situation and the adventures that (hopefully) lay ahead. As a refresher, we were staying with Ross's aunt and uncle in Fort Lauderdale while we finished our maritime training courses and looked for work. About five days upon completion of the STCW, we received word of the need for a stewardess aboard a yacht based in West Palm Beach. On Thursday, Ross and I headed up to West Palm Beach early to meet up with some friends for breakfast at the Rybovitch Marina. After breakfast, we still had some time to kill before my interview, so we decided to walk some docks and check to see if any boats were looking ... read more

So. A little hiatus in my travels since I last wrote. For those who don’t know, I paused in Maryland for a few good reasons: to build on my relationship with extended family and work for a bit in Outdoor Adventure at a small University. I now find myself back on the road with my friend Matt, and a similar focus as I had this previous fall - to discover more of our fine country. (I recognize this is a small amount of information to explain the last 5 months. For those that would like more detail feel free to ask.) Leaving Emmitsburg in April, we first stopped in Asheville, NC. A beautiful town set in the middle of the sharp, tall, lush green mountains of the Blue Ridge and the Great Smokey ranges. Here we ... read more

Convention Time! We went to check out the convention centre in West Palm Beach on Thursday to make sure of the times and so on. Yay, smiley friendly faces! They can’t believe that we are all the way from Africa and so the chatterings begin.. The hall used to be a rundown basketball court known as the ‘leaky tepee’, and in 2001 J.W bought it and fixed it up. Once they saw it in its new revamped state they wanted it back and hoped that we would have concerts and basketball games in it..well, they lost out and there will be none of that in there! CONVENTION Friday morning we arrived early, got our seats and the first day flew by! The Program was wonderful with some nice surprises..(I won’t go into detail, wait till yours ... read more
