Today the Regal Princess returned to port in Ft Lauderdale and our cruise came to an end. At 7:00 we got up and put our last few belongings into the Roller Bag, back-pack, and into Janet’s large purse. These bags got a little heavy, but we were able to fit everything inside. We had to vacate the cabins by 8:00. The four of us met in the corridor outside our cabin and said goodbye to our cabin attendant (Nellie). We managed to catch an elevator with enough space for us and our bags, and then found an empty table for four in the Horizon Court for a buffet breakfast. After our last shipboard breakfast, we went to Vines on Deck-5. This is where everyone who needed wheelchair assistance was supposed to assemble. We waited about half ... read more

I decided to wait until after our second game of MLB Spring Training before posting about both of them, so I could compare them for my faithful readers. Our first game was on Saturday night in West Palm Beach: the Washington Nationals' home stadium for Spring Training, called FitTeam Stadium. The second game was on Monday afternoon in Jupiter: the St. Louis Cardinals' home stadium for Spring Training, called Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The first stadium was pretty new, and it was a great venue for baseball. The second game was at an older stadium, and the sun definitely made it a less pleasant experience. This was my first time experiencing MLB Spring Training. I used to be a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves, but then life became too busy to go to games on ... read more
Hello, Nationals
Our view of the action at FitTeam Stadium
Definitely an older stadium

This morning was nice because I got to wake up and put real people clothes on. It felt strange since I’ve never vanned before, but I was excited for a change of pace and to serve my team in a new way. We had a 4:30am wake up call and after not getting back from the Wanninkhofs until late the night before (the other van was in a minor accident), we were working off of 4 hours of sleep and anticipating our biggest ride of the trip to date. Some people were pretty concerned about the weather and wanted to just van it to Miami, but I told them the night before to just mentally prepare to do the whole thing and then if we have to shuttle then it will a bonus for them. We ... read more
Bike & Build comes to Palm Beach!
One if my favorite views :)
Safety Triangles + Palm Trees

Today was originally suppose to be a build day in West Palm—something I was very much looking forward to and was going to be a highlight of this route. I was eager to give back to the community that gave me so much and to volunteer with Palm Beach County Habitat again—I did my sweat equity with them when I was preparing for my first trip—talk about full circle! However, due to Alberto, Habitat cancelled our build day and instead we got the day off. I was upset about missing the build day, but I wasn’t upset about having a day off in West Palm—especially considering our only official day off is July 4. So instead of waking up at 7 to build, I was able to sleep in until 8–though I wanted to sleep more ... read more

Geo: 26.7144, -80.0527We sleep well but as usual our body clocks are out of whack and so we are both wide awake by 4am. We manage to snooze for another hour before getting up and making coffee. Weather forecast for today is going to be a very nice 21c (72f) which although not particularly warm for Florida for us it's practically a heatwave. We drive to Denny's for our traditional breakfasts when we are in the US. Grand Slam Slugger for Peter. Moons over My Hammy for me. Shortly after that we decide to drive eastward toward the coast and Palm Beach itself. We park up and walk half a mile or so along the coast and find ourselves at the top of Worth Avenue. Worth Avenue is very similar to Rodeo Drive in LA. Full ... read more
