Sunday, Jan. 26 – We left Navarre Beach and headed east across the Florida Panhandle. Driving down Highway 98, we passed through several quaint little towns, including Destin and Seaside, before stopping for lunch in Panama City Beach. Jim’s Aunt Muriel spent the winter here for many years and this was the first winter she hadn’t gone down so we bought a postcard in Panama City Beach and mailed it to her to let her know we were there. The Florida Panhandle is called the Emerald Coast and it was easy to see why by looking at the beautiful, clear water. I was very impressed with the beauty of the water and the white fine sand. We continued to drive on 98 and got to Perry, FL around 4:00 (EST – we passed into Eastern Time ... read more

It's Big ...... very Big - thus, we didn't see it all but we saw enough. Every January, the Tampa Fairgrounds holds a huge, mega RV show. We went yesterday to this RVer's Mecca with Sam & Sandy. We had a great time but we were all pooped out by the end of the day as we crawled out of the show....similar to Leonardo Dicaprio in his latest movie that we just saw (County Club scene). We trolled through the two exhibition halls, collecting goodies along the way. Sam became our "bag boy" as we loaded his scooter down with all our bags. It made our travels easier but "where is Sam?".....almost hidden under all the bags of treasures. Just like a pirates bounty...he was a true buried treasure! We raced in and out of the ... read more

The one about catching up Greetings dear ‘old friends,’ ‘new friends,’ and beloved family. I have been on the road in my RV, Moya, since January 2. I left earlier this year than in past years. I want to be home earlier. There is nothing wrong with the weather in southeastern North Carolina in early March. January and February are cold and damp. March brings the start of the warmer weather, longer days, and time to start digging in the dirt in the garden. I made a decision not to write a travel blog this year, for several reasons. I am going the same places with the same people as I have for the past 2 years. No need to write about what I have seen before and written about before. Next, I want to work ... read more

Getting close. Arrived yesterday at Camping World (Tampa). Car battery was dead so Cory had to jump it - we really have to figure out what drains it. We left the RV parked there and headed off for some lodging. What better place than the Hard Rock Casino since we knew we were going there anyway. Wonderful accommodations. Lulu is living the high life: loves their bathrobe and talking on the toilet telephone. Such a diva. Made a little stir when checking into the room. When unloading our bags, the bellhop woman started hollering "what are these??.....tic tacs or drugs....looks like drugs!!" There were zillions of little white pills all over the floor from one of our bags. She started digging through our bags like a DEA agent. I kept saying I didn't know what they ... read more

We arrived in the state of Florida at 10:30 AM. It's cold!! Still in our winter jackets and mittens plus covered with blankets as we travel. My nose is freezing but I won't turn on the furnace. Stopped at the Florida Welcome Center for my collection of a million brochures and coupons. After posing for a blog shot, a couple from Wellsville, NY. approached us. It was Dave Williams and his wife - heading to Sebring. He used to have the Travel Service in town. It is such a small world. Our present need is to arrange to get our RV de-winterized. Looking at tomorrow's forecast, maybe we should forget it. Supposed to be 28 degrees in Orlando. What is going on with the weather......this can't be global warming - more like global cooling. We have ... read more

Rising this morning, I smile...until I try to push myself out of bed and hear a cacophony of objections from countless body parts not willing to be pulled out of their time of rest. My arm gives out, my abs don't even respond, and my legs collapse as I put them on the floor. It's 6am and we have six hours of training ahead of us at the studio, followed by weight training and perhaps some more choreography practice at our residences. Even so, I find myself chuckling, smiling at the apparent impossibility of the coming day, knowing that this feeling has been overcome each and every day so far. We are in Tampa, Florida and it's day 9 of four weeks of rehearsals. Thanks to a team of coaches and cast members, we have made ... read more

So, for the first time, possibly ever, I arrived at the airport with plenty of extra time. It feel nice to be just excited and not excited and in a blind panic. You'll hear from me again after a day in Paris!... read more

Port of Tampa Florida Harbor Excursion - February 27, 2013 You have seen most all of the things that make up an ocean port. A harbor or port is often the back ground for shoot-em up TV adventure programs. Unfortunately we seldom get to see the local harbor in its daily, more mundane role as a port of entry for goods and passengers from around the world, a place where the local products are shipped to waiting hands across the sea, where many of your friends and neighbors earn their living. I was fortunate enough to be able to take a harbor excursion and see for myself what the harbor looks like when it is not acting in a movie. The opportunity came to me unexpectedly. My wife’s Uncle Gil called and asked me if I ... read more
