Tomorrow marks the end of 9 months being on the road. It is bitter sweet because I know we are all ready to head home to be reunited with our loved ones but we have become such a big family that I am also dreading that day at the airport when we have to say all of our see-ya-laters. These past 9 months have taught me so much. Taught me how to love, becoming patient, thankful and grateful for each and every blessing God provides. He is always so faithful. Looking back now I can see the little things here and there He had orchestrated to bring us to where we are now. We have laughed together, Cried together, and maybe even argued a little bit but most importantly we have all stuck together. We have ... read more

So its early in Jacksonville but my mind is still at 4am UK time. I need sleep! 3 hours before my taxi to central to get on the bus to Orlando then finally on the plane to Jamaica. Although people tell me how cool all my travels are, I really don't pick a quick and easy route! First impressions of US? GREAT! It had never tempted me before... too much like home. I'm glad I've made a stop off! People have been so kind and gentle. Adoring my accent which has made immigration as swift as it could of been. JAX airport has definitely been one of my fav sleeper airports so far. Although small, I have a huge sofa and free wifi! What more could I need. Hopefully going to get a few hours sleep ... read more

Passport? Check. Plug converters? Check. Pink rain boots? Check. Packed luggage? Eh, pending. Tomorrow I embark on my study abroad journey to the British Isles - Ireland, Scotland, then London! As some may know, I've never left the western hemisphere before. It'll be the longest I've been away from home, my family, and friends. For two weeks. (I stayed home for college, okay? It's a big deal.) My dad has gone full Liam Neeson from Taken. I couldn't be more excited and nervous at the same time. I spent a solid 45 minutes today in the travel-size section at Target checking, double checking, and triple-checking to make sure I had everything I needed in 3 ounces or less. I spent more money than I'd like to admit. But you know what? You can't put a price ... read more

3/2/2014 - Today Shelby and Jack are being taken fishing by Larry and his son, John. Aleta and Barbara went to WalMart and Home Depot. Aleta bought a rose bush and Kylie a little happy. We will be seeing Kylie (our granddaughter) in Orlando in a day or so. Fishing report - John caught the first - a small trout, Larry then caught a stingray, then Shelby caught a stingray, then another, Jack caught a red, then a small "rat" red. That makes Jack the King Red Fisherman and Shelby the Stingray King for the day. Big THANKS to John and Larry for the trip. Met Bill (Barbar's brother), Cindy (his wife), and Larry at Cracker Barrel for dinner. Back to the motorhome around 9:30pm.... read more

3/1/2014 - Headed over to Barbara's brother's, Larry; later for smoked ribs. Went to WalMart so Aleta could pickup the fixin's for Paula Dean's Peach Cobbler to take to Larry's. OMG those ribs and potatoe salad were GREAT!! The peach cobbler, the first Aleta had fixed was very very good. She did an outstanding job there. Headed back to motorhome after cobbler and ice cream around 10:30pm.... read more

2/28/2014 - Left this morning headed to Grandy's for brunch before hitting the road. Grandy's is a chain restaurant popular out west, seems the only one in the southeast is in Brunswich, GA. Delicious yeast rolls and fried chicken. Their cinnamon rolls aren't bad either. Stopped at Flying J to fill up before heading further south. OK, we made it to within 9.5 miles of the rv park and blew a right side rear inside tire around 2pm. Exit 366 on I95. Called Good Sams, worked with Michelin and were back on the road in a little over an hour. Had pulled pork on scali rolls for supper then played cards - girls 2 boys 1.... read more

We slept in and headed over to Granny's around 10:30 a.m. Granny had made a couple pounds of bacon and Anastasia cooked scrambled eggs, while I made toast. The kids then played games with Granny and Irene while I went to have my first pedicure of the summer. When I returned, Granny and Irene went to a doctor's appointment. The kids and I stopped at Bono's and picked up BBQ pork and turkey with beans and fries for dinner. We then went to the condo and the kids jumped in the pool. Granny and Irene arrived around 6 pm for dinner and Claire came by for a while too. Jonathan, Anastasia, Irene and Claire played a game of Phase 10 Twist while Granny, Ben and I did a 100 piece puzzle. It was an early night ... read more

Here I am at the Dairy Queen. What a revelation for travellers and assorted itinerant folks to have this handy service at the local fast food locations across the nations. I started at the Golden Arches but the only available plug-in was in the kiddies screaming pit, where oblivious custodial parents work their ipads while their pre-schoolers do ferral venting. I will go willingly now and choose some nice cold ice-cream concoction to show gratitude for this serene hot-spot. Ice cream is not something we connect with very often as boaters, so this is an extra pleasure. Now I'm even glad the wifi is caput at the Seafarer's marina. A couple of days ago we found an interesting dockside community here on the Trout River, just off the St. John River, to complete our buoyancy tests. ... read more

It counts as traveling if I go to a different city, right? Sure that city is less than a mile away from my house, and my destination within said city is a mere 6 miles from home. But it's a different city. Like road tripping to New Orleans, or New York, or Los Angeles. But without the gas bill, or excitement of seeing something new. I mean I had to cross the Intracoastal Waterway. Intracoastal. Like traveled coast to coast. Technically I did. The East coast of Jacksonville Beach, all the way to the West coast of Jacksonville Beach. There. I have justified my posting of another entry. An entry of a 12 mile round trip to a whole different city and back. A middle of the night so-journ to a mysterious, possibly haunted theater. Where ... read more
