Motivation: something that motivates; inducement; incentive......so what is it? or where is it? why has it disappeared? Or why can't it be found? So, how do we find the ultimate motivation; that one thing that ensures you make a real and permanent change? Does it literally take hitting that rock-bottom point...or are we able to find the motivation within ourselves when the change is most needed? Is it a person in our life that makes us feel the need to be better, to somehow become a better version of ourselves? So my question right now is: What is the ultimate motivation; that one thing that makes us change? The reason this question has popped up is because of a few circumstances which just happened to occur simultaneously. * First of all, I have had a ... read more

Or more like stretched and strained in 90 different directions. I'm surprisingly not waking up exhausted; but I know that sooner or later it will probably catch up to me. I wish I could say I feel like I am doing too many things; but I honestly do not feel that way at all. Sometimes I feel like I am not doing enough, like I have more than enough free time....like I should add something to my plate. I'm trying to get my routine set-in-stone, I guess. But it is extremely difficult. I am not trying to complain or get pity from anybody or have anybody feel sorry for me; I would never ask for that since I do not even feel bad for myself. But I just need to write things down so that I ... read more

The past 24 hours...in a nutshell Currently I am super annoyed with all Microsoft Word-type programs. Apparently it has decided to piss me off while I am working on my study guide for this huge exam I have tomorrow. I made this perfectly awesome template for the study guide, so that all the information I needed would be included; and it decides that it will not let me add anything later on. It is now messing up the perfectly good study guide. I cannot change anything on it without it messing up. So....out of annoyance I am starting over. ha But other than that, today was a super productive day. I ran 3-miles, worked out for 30 minutes and walked for another 15 minutes this morning. Definitely was a much-needed workout. But probably not the ... read more

So since I have established what this road trip means to me...I suppose I should add what the tentative plan is: * Ultimate destination: Las Vegas, Nevada * Four Corners Monument (where Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah meet) * Grand Canyon, Arizona * Oak Creek Canyon -- Sedona, Arizona * Yosemite National Park, California * Bridge to Nowhere -- Los Angeles, California (Bungee Jumping) * San Antonio, Texas * There is more to come for this list; this is just as far as I have gotten for things I would like to see on the road trip * Any suggestions/additions on great places to hike/camp/visit are very welcomed Much of this road trip is going to involve hiking and camping out (a. a way to save money; b. camping/hiking is fun). The plan is to ... read more

There comes a time in your life where you have to make a decision; you have to decide whether to step-up and carve your own path or continue down the trail that has been formed for you by the millions of other people that have walked down it. For me it was never a choice, I have always carved my own path, gone my own direction, walked to the beat of my own drum; so this decision for me was a simple one. Lets start with A little about me: * I currently have one year left of Graduate School (Masters of Science in Criminal Justice), maybe one-and-a-half depending on comprehensive exams, and then I will need to start my grueling job search for a kick-ass job! * I am 22 years-old. * I have played ... read more

Righteo. Ive had the opportunity to partake in some fine American traditions recently, most notably Halloween and Thanksgiving. Now just to put it in context both are huge holidays here and Halloween is all about excess in costumes, candy (people just stare at me if I say lollies) and alcohol. Id been warned out early (Dec 08) by the Moye family that Halloween was their party and attendance was compulsory so never one to argue or cause a fuss I was in. Superstar (Jeremy) and I were then faced with the task of shopping for costumes and over here a BS mustache and sombrero wont cut it. So with neither of us a fan of shopping and putting it off until the last minute we were not overly enthralled with the task ahead. Finally after procrastinating ... read more

Florida was not in our travel plan, not at all. But what can one do when, on the way to Mexico in Dallas' airport, one realises that one's passport is suddenly missing? I suppose that I lost it at the airport in LA when passing through security. Not only do you have to show proof of your identity, but you also need to remove your shoes, your belt, your coat, show your computer and... tutti quanti. Well somewhere in all that mess, my passeport dissapeared! After a couple of nights spent in the Dallas area, we flew from Dallas to Atlanta. We contacted the Belgian Consulate, applied for a new passport, rented a car and paid an impromptu visit to our friends Austin and Hank in Dublin, Georgia. It was great to be able to relax ... read more

Well, this is it. We only have 7 days before we leave. Friday was our last day of work and next week we move out of our apartment. During my goodbye's many people were curious as to what we are packing. This was also a questions I have been curious about during my planning, too. So I'm going to take this time to layout what exactly is in my bag. This is not to say I need everything I'm packing because I haven't left yet. But, this is where I'm starting. The description below is for Jonathan. Pack: Deuter 42: It's small enough to carry on Clothes: Mostly quick dry stuff 2 pair of shorts Swim suit Sleeping shorts 1 pair of long paints 3 short sleeve shirts 1 long sleeve shirt 5 pairs of socks ... read more

Dear folks, The month of May has passed very quickly although the weather here in Florida was the worst in many years. Unbelievable thunderstorms and tons of rain. But somehow, in between the showers, the sun has been there all the time and we have been enjoying every single day in full. Life is full of surprises. Steve had the chance to meet one of his old students, Fred, a few months ago. Before that meeting, they hadn't seen each other for 20 years and had only emailed a few times. But when they met again, it was like no time had passed (except that both had become a bit wiser and one, a bit grayer.) Needless to say, we had a lot of catching up to do and we did it over great meals and ... read more

Hello friends and family members, I know that many of you are really wondering what we are doing "over here" all day long. Well, except for my dear husband who is hard working during the morning hours, we do have the best days in our lives. Especially when the climate is so good and people here are wonderful. It makes living so much easier. When we left Sweden in January I promised Steve that he would have a "new" wife before we went back home again. As you can understand it has been hard pressure during this month to live up to that promise! How is it going? Well, luckily Erik joined me with starting up the most intensive training program - Beach body P90X. So at least my body would be back on track again. ... read more
