The morning was again cloudy but the “accurate” weatherman assured us all that it would be a beautiful day. He was right! I had a very relaxing morning, coffee outside and Oscar laying in the grass. John drove up with all the necessary equipment to give Penelope a bath, boy did she need it. He had special stuff to get the bugs off the front and I washed with a big long brush while he hosed it down. In no time we were done, only getting a little wet, and we sat and admired our handy work. We had a nice chat then John went back home and I took Oscar for his walk. He seems to be dragging, maybe he’s hot. I spent the afternoon on the beach here at the campground reading my book ... read more

Blog 3-1 What a great sleep, didn’t wake up til 8:30. It is overcast outside but promises to be a beautiful day with 70 degree temps. It is a lazy start to a relaxing day. I went shopping with John later in the morning to get some things at the rv store so while we were there we had to look at their inventory. You just never know when something fabulous comes in and you missed buying it. We looked at some trailers and their stock of Roadtrek motor homes. Roadtrek makes a camper similar to mine but a different company. Nothing worth buying so we went on to Walmart and Subway for lunch. Back at the campground it was time for my afternoon nap, short, walk the dog then sit outside and play on the ... read more

Blog 2-29 Sadie Hawkins Day It was set the alarm so I wake up early day. My hair has become an issue for me as the color has faded and the roots are long, time to fix it. I found a salon in Marianna, FL that uses the products my hair is used to so I made an appointment for 9:30. It is an hour and half drive so I have to leave by 7:45. I am heading to Jacksonville tonight so Marianna is on the way. It was sad saying good-bye to St Andrews in the sun, it is just a beautiful stretch of beach, I felt like I was in the islands. I headed north with the address in the gps on a 4 lane road that was 55 to 65 mph speed. It ... read more

Saturday-Tuesday, January 14-17, Crooked Creek State Park, St. Mary’s, GA Spent this time hanging out, doing laundry, and a little sightseeing. This park was just north of the King’s Bay Naval Submarine Base and there is a lot of development in the area that shows the significant economic growth from this new base. There were signs everywhere that said things like “Welcome Home, Daddy!” One day we went into the old port town of St. Mary’s and looked at all of the old Victorian houses, shopped a local farmer’s market, and went to the library to see if they had any books for sale. We had hoped to take a ferry ride out to CumberlandIsland, but because we hadn’t made reservations hikers and campers had taken all of the slots that would allow you to come ... read more

Thursday, January 12, 2012—Little Talbot State Park, Jacksonville, FL Woke up to blue skies and 57 degrees when we left at 9:30. Drove south along A1A back toward the way we had come from Jacksonville. We stopped at a boat ramp/park area that we had spotted on the way up. It was a bonanza of birds. The pictures of birds included with this entry are just some of the ones we saw. There were lots and lots of fishermen out along the coast fishing from old overpasses and old bridges left over waterways when the new roads were built. It was a pretty drive. We headed further south to a large National Park: The Timucuan Ecological Historical Preserve (http://www.nps.gov/timu/index.htm), which is 46,000 acres and displays evidence of over 6000 years of culture. The area was first ... read more

Monday, January 9, 2012 --MikeRoessGoldHeadBranchState Park to Jacksonville, 53 degrees, clear blue sky, but foggy in morning Continued up Highway 21. We saw a bald eagle and lots of horse farms on the way and skirted around small communities and lakes as we made our way to Saint Augustine for our appointment at the RV dealer. When they finally came to check on the unit, they categorically stated that they would do no warranty work on a Roadtrek and that we would have to go up to the dealer in Jacksonville. So, really irritated, especially since we had a card from the dealer’s president saying that they fixed Roadtreks, we headed up I-95 to the other side of Jacksonville. At this branch, they said they could do the work and were surprised about what St. Augustine’s ... read more

Thought i would re-create the crocodile scene from romancing the stone, and go hang out with the crocodiles and alligators at the St Augustine gator farm. The park had 23 different kinds of gators, and great big enclosures all lying around being lazy. So when it was time to re-create my scene (swapping the romantic stone with pellets they are suposed to like) the gators didn't really move much and weren't hugely responsive to the food.. thus my hand stays on for the time being. Even when i threw it at one, it didn't budge. We wandered around the park, saw some hideous looking vultures and other crocodiles.. then waited for a feeding frenzy in the main enclosure. These ones were really big, the biggest 16-17feet long. They were fighting over the food and would were ... read more

Time for a break from taco's, so i jumped in a plane and headed to sunny Florida for a long over due visit to my family. What better way to spend my fisrt day, then at the beach to catch some waves with my family. Was great to get some more surfing in, in a less rough beach (like the one in Mexico) with a blazing sun.... so blazing my face got burnt... not to mention the burnt lobster also known as my aunty. I have been staying with my aunty in Jacksonville, in the north of Florida, its really hot here (which i dont mind, so i can keep my hot Mexican tan) but it is really humid.. Its been great chilling out with the family the past week, seeing rednecks and other sights.. but ... read more

Shelby and I just made it through security in Jacksonville. We are patiently awaiting our flight to Miami and can barely contain our excitement. In twenty four hours we will be arriving in FLORENCE. ahhh Our flight from Jacksonville to Miami only took an hour and 5 minutes yet somehow my bag never made it to the airport. After tracking my suitcase, the baggage claim rep told me it would be on the next flight to Miami that would land around 4:15. My flight to Paris was scheduled to leave around 5:45 so I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to make it back through security in time. Shelby and I met up with some other girls on our trip and had lunch in the food court. I decided to go back to baggage ... read more
