In the afternoon Erin and Robyn went out to look at wedding dresses and Pete and I went with their neighbours Simon, James and Jen to a restaurant/bar that had an outdoor area set up with screens to watch the Super Bowl.39 year-old Peyton Manning led the Denver Broncos to a tepid win over the Carolina Panthers. Hard to comprehend that grid iron has only 15-minute quarters and that on average a player is on the field only half the time. That's about the same game time as water polo. At least baseballers play a marathon 160-game season.Monday Robyn and I visited our favourite shop 'Steinmart', plus several others. Geo: 33.9768, -118.46Today we planned to drive along the coast and have a fancy lunch at Nobu in Malibu. The weather was windy and rainy and getting worse, so we deferred that plan and decided to visit the Getty Museum.We tried the M Street Cafe for brunch but there was a 1 hour wait! Instead we went to Herringbone in Santa Monica that also rapidly filled up. The meal was good (but pricey) and we all had different choices. My burger (when in Rome...) was really good, quite rare and the beef was very tasty.Then to the Getty Museum which is part of the Getty Centre complex. Geo: 33.9853, -118.452Nun ist es soweit und der "erste" Tag startet, denn wir übernehmen die "Mofas", doch erst ab 12.00 Uhr.Das Vormittagsprogramm ist individuell, d.h. die einen gehen ans Meer um zu laufen, die Neuankömmlinge wollen noch kurz bei Bartels Harley Davidson vorbei schauen, andere bleiben im Hotel und wieder andere fahren an den Santa Monica Pier, um das Ende der Route 66 besucht zu haben.Um 11.00 Uhr fahren wir zu EasyRider nach Hawthorne, um dort unsere Harley's in Empfang zu nehmen. Nach den Formalitäten übernehmen wir unsere Maschinen, überprüfen sie und machen uns bereit. Bei meiner Fat Boy ist eine Schlaufe der Satteltasche nicht mehr schliessbar, doch anstatt die Satteltaschen auszuwechseln, suchen sie eine anderes "Mofa". Geo: 33.9853, -118.452With the flight LX40 (Swiss International Airlines) leaving Zurich at 13.23 we arrived in Los Angeles at 16.08. It was a long flight, but we had no problems and a lot of fun. It was always daytime and we got some wonderful views over Greenland...After customs formalities we entered the US...jumped into a Shuttle to the Van Renter. We had a lot of discussions about the age of our driver....but we convinced him with our arguments...at the end we got the van...but we have to talk our travel agency...Now we have been out for a short dinner with Buritos and back to our hotel.
