The morning started great as everyone woke up in a great mood as Vivian jumped into bed with Nathan and then Rosie to be their alarms. Vivian has to climb from Nathan's pullout sofa bed in order to get to Rosie's queen bed and this required her to jump up and across and often led to her landing on her face in a pile of pillows much to everyone's delight and laughter. We all had Lucky Charms, milk, and yogurt to start the day before heading out to the pool area to begin our last morning of swimming and sliding. Nathan went down the 30 foot high water slides with Steve and Tory about 20 times and learned it would go fast on his back without his swim shirt on. Rosie and Vivian floated together in ... read more

Good morning from the Desert Southwest! When I stepped outside at 9:15 am it was already 90 degrees! I walked across the campgrounds to a very crowded outside yoga class. So I guess now I have a sense if what it's like to engage in hot yoga!?I did invite Marc to join me but he said that his doc told him he could play hockey on his injured knee, but absolutely NO yoga! Hmmm... Neil Young opened last night and the sound of his clear tenor voice rang out across the pink sky--After the Goldrush! He did a few priceless oldies, but remained true to his rebel self and performed many newer, politically charged songs. His guitar work is surreal...he truly makes the instrument talk. Paul McCartney is magnificent and truly a genius! His performance left ... read more

Hello and Good Morning from the Coachella Valley! Well we are already into day 2 of Desert Trip 2016! Last night's concert featured Bob Dylan as the opener for the Rolling Stones! Both acts are incredible, but definitely aging! I was underwhelmed with Dylan's set because we never really saw his face and only saw footage of him and the band for about 5 songs, then the huge monitors played old video footage of NYC. It was difficult to stay connected to the music because we couldn't see the performers. To me the Rolling Stones are larger than life, regardless of age. It is crazy to figure out how they perform at that level for 2 1/2 hours. As Marc said, "Well they don't do it everyday, that's for sure." Anyway, their energy and excitement was ... read more

Hello from Desert Trip 2016! We arrived yesterday afternoon and settled at our camp site without any problems. Lots of people our age but also lots of young people! It's 91 degrees at 12:00 pm. Tonight we will see the Stones and Bob Dylan. Keeping cool and exploring the camping activities. Went to a Pilates class this morning. Check out our pics! Marc and Joyce... read more

We abandoned the idea of getting to Palm Springs the day before and got up at 6am instead! Managed to get hugh out the door and on the road by 7.45amn and off we set! 2 hours in and we both need the loo so we stop at a gas station and i go and ask if they have a bathroom. The girls behind the counter think I have a really cute accent and says shouldn't you ask for the loo! We chat for a bit and she loves getting me to say things. Have a few problems getting the petrol pump to work! Our UK cards don't work in the machine, so you have to go inside and pay and then fill up, but we have no idea how much to put in and so ... read more

Movie review blog #1. I can see why people ask me how a movie was after I’ve been to the show. I’m known for having a very high standard for movies. While my interests are not diverse, I have a keen eye. I also tend to see humour where others don’t, and may be known for laughing when others aren’t. Assuming it is a quirky foreign film or a rom com, I’m there. I do suspect that some (? most ?) people ask me in order to do the opposite. Oh, and I know the names of very few actors, except for the best ones (like Matt Damon and Drew Barrymore). Best movies of all times (this will be an on-going list): Bridget Jones Diary, Fargo, African Queen, anything with John Candy. Yes, anything! If you ... read more

Geo: 33.7256, -116.263Bob and Connie have a lovely 3BR, 3 bath house in a gated golf community - Heritage Palms. Bob drives his cart from his garage onto the golf course that looks immaculately maintained. As is apparently common in the desert, the golf course grass is cut very close in Oct, then over-seeded with a winter rye grass, and watered heavily. The course is closed for a month (!) for this process.Went for a walk this morning along a line of palm tree oases (palm springs) in the Coachella Valley (Indian, not Spanish pronunciation), along the San Andreas fault. Had brunch at Panera, a bakery style cafe. The girls then went shopping and Bob and I checked out a couple of golf shops. The PGA Tour Superstore is huge and carries a massive range. Then we ... read more

DR JUNE MCCARROLL June Hill was born in 1867 and raised in the Adirondack Mountains. When she came of age she went off to school and learned to be a nurse. Back then women had two career choices. They could be teachers, or they could be nurses. June married a lunger name of Robertson and in 1904 the happy couple moved to Indio, California in order to take advantage of the salubrious health benefits that an arid climate offered to lungers. The old man went up the flume in 1914 and a couple of years later June married a rooster named McCarroll, who was the local agent for the Southern Pacific Railroad. By then June had become a doctor, and was the only doctor to be found in that whole wide area. She was ... read more

First day house hunting. Our realtor Richard took us to see a number of places in Indian Palms, where we have stayed twice before. Some good options there but not exactly what we were looking for. Darn Canadians have driven up the prices recently! Then we drove over to Terra Lago. I'm sold! Never should have taken me into a new house in my price range! Even have a few places that will be available in June. I already have moved in, in my head! Potofino at Terra Lago. I like plan 3. Just need to add a pool and spa! Beautiful facilities - pools, fitness centre, banquet hall. Ed and I sitting around by ourselves in the banquet hall! Now if I could get a job down here... Right, still don't have that PhD...... read more

We left our spot at Mission Bay about noon on Sunday. Glenn had tried to see how we could fix our backup camera...a necessity, as we're towing the Celica...we hadn't yet decided what kind of ladder we might need for the coach, so it was time...bought one at The Home Depot (I know, but we didn't see Lowe's...) that folds up to 3', but extends to 10'. We took the camera out, and were going to buy a replacement at Camping World. They don't sell just the camera, so we had to fix the one we had. The trouble was that the wires had frayed right where they came out of the camera housing. So while G was surfing to see if we could order one online, I took apart the one we had and finally ... read more
