This is what I saved for y’all (and me) during the time that Travelblog was down. Next post I’ll catch up. Wednesday, August 1: Went to the newly opened grocery store on the Montejo, Superama! It's more like a big Krogers. They don't sell TVs and motor scooters. Still couldn't find any American type sausage but did find real flour (I hope it is. The kind I bought other day wasn't really. So today I bought two different kinds! Surely one is flour without cornmeal or mesa or whatever in it too.) and I got vinegar for the cucumber salad I’m going to make and I think I now have every kind of liquor anyone would want. They had a big liquor section with all kinds of specials. Okay, sit down because you'll probably laugh and ... read more

We arrived in Merida at 6:00 a.m. after taking the night bus from Palenque. As soon as we arrived we headed for a cab. We stopped at the first hostel, but it was booked. The man who answered was nice enough to direct us to a family run guest house that had vacancies. After knocking for a few minutes, the owner finally answered and let us in. We stayed for one night because it was more expensive than we had wanted to pay. At that point all we really wanted was a place to sleep because neither one of us slept very well on the bus. We spent the later part of the day touring Merida. We used the Merida as a base and stayed two nights. Neither one of us really got a great feel ... read more

Going to be sending some of new places and some (new pictures) but just like most of y'all have seen before. Have new readers that may not have had a chance to see this place before the site blew up and went down. These are from Gringo's in Chelem in late July. Just northwest of Merida. Enjoy. Sorry if I sounded so despondent last night about my lost blogs. Please read the comment that I received from Mitch; Well CHIN up girl! Hey you, Is that sadness and depression detected in your message? Surely not ! It simply can't be. We've followed you along while you are having the best time of your life, making loads of mula and living a life most of us only dream of.. AND on top of that have shared with us along the way. Would it be nice to savor it for years down the road and read it over and over again ?? Perhaps, then again - your friends who've read and followed your adventures are still with you and know what's been going on. Princess, all you have to do is simply pick up where ... read more

Travelblog has had a serious malfunction and has lost all the previous blogs. I am so sorry. It breaks my heart because I didn't store my blogs on any other media. I do have more news of my life for y'all but am too sadden now to put them on here. Will, probably, later. Maybe on a more reliable source (but who can tell what is reliable?). In the meanwhile, if anyone has actually saved an article would you please email it to me at pattusa@gmail.com? I may, or may not, want to recreate this site. Thanks, all. Have a good night. George wrote on Thursday that I can now drink one in celebration of HIS PASSPORT FINALLY GETTING TO HIM! Happy dance, happy dance! Now he gets his second Hep B shot and waits til September to go to his next work assignment. Hopefully I'll return to Texas before he leaves so I can see him - and dance, of course. Friday the 27th: Holy crap. Just like in the states. Sick folk come to work and share their germs til everyone is sick. Geeze....... After having worked last evening until 7 with NO LUNCH and needed a beer really badly and being cranky, I got to work this morning and much wheezing and sneezing by co-workers going on. I had had it by 2 and left! I can work at home. Ta Da. And then go ... read more

Gringo's Bar in Chelem Photos compliments of Kaye. The wonderful pictures to the right (if they stay there) of this blog are compliments of Kaye and her digital. This is from Gringo's Bar in Chelem (just before and to the west of Progreso). I refuse to drive at night any distance from Merida unless am spending the night so I may never get a chance to photograph this as she has. Thank you so much, Kaye, for your permission to post for my friends. Sassy, if you will, let Kaye know this blog address because I don't have her email address. And thank you, bless your heart! from one... read more

Catch up time again! I take back everything I've said about the rain in Merida just being big fat drops. It has been pouring here for two weeks. Just an hour or so a day, but sometimes God is PISSED and the thunder and lightening is frightening! Well, to me anyway. No, y'all that have worked with me, no blankie to hide under and you sure can't write procedures with your eyes closed. Phone call update: I've had a couple of friends tell me that nothing shows up on their bill by dialing my Orange, Texas cell number. On my side, the roaming is just under a dollar a minute and I don't mind paying that at all to hear from y'all. Haven't figured out the Mexican cell phone per call yet, but they go fast ... read more

Again, not to worry with the date. All good here in the Yucatan. Updates in General: And I'm going to put in some translations that are really more for me than y'all. DHL in the states has now called me and maybe will have some sort of resolution by Monday, July 16th. Eating out: Cheddars has some great french fries (papases fritas) with salt (sal) and everything! Sweet tea (dulce te) in Texas has NOTHING on the Yucatan. I have to special order unsweetened (sin azucarar) or go into sugar shock! Then it's all instant tea unless you make it yourself at your house (casa). I saw my first iguana here! Crossing the street (calle) about a block and a half over from the apartment (departamentos). Not common for me to see here. Many in Cozumel ... read more
