We left Calgary, AB and headed south. We traveled along the entire west coast of the U.S. then down the Mexico Baja peninsula. It was a crazy trip with so many unexpected things. We only had 3 weeks to make it from Calgary to Los Cabos, with a mandatory pit stop in Vegas. Everyone said not to drive at night in Mexico cause of cows on the road, but the worst part was the Mexican drivers ripping around the corners on the edge of a cliff in the middle of the night. Other than that, not too many cows, unless you count the dead bulls on the side of the road. We saw Beyonce and Jay Z in a club in Cabo but that wasn't all that exciting. They just sat there and watched everyone dance. ... read more

Well we woke up in Rosalito, headed BACK to Tijuanna, somehow navigated the city and started east. Arrived in Tecate, which is actually a really awesome town. They make the Tecate beer there, it's a small border town that I would take in the future over Tijuanna. We gout our VISA's sorted out there because we were a bit flustered the night before crossing into Tijuanna at sunset. Anyhow, felt good to get our visas sorted out and all those formalities, so we busted it to MexiCali afterwards. Lots of desert driving, it's hot, straight, cactus everywhere, dust, non toll road so it's just one lane each way, some creative passing, lots of destroyed cars everywhere from breakdowns etc. Felt good to get the roof off the samurai and we just kicked it with tunes and ... read more

Well, this entry is a bit late and delayed but I've decided that I prettymuch hate internet cafes. I've obviously been spoiled having a fast connection and computer most of my life so this is a big change. Probably won't be any more photos for awhile, it's just a pain and I haven't really been able to get it working... but cross your fingers We left Trents today and headed to Mexico, got our car insurance and entered Tijuanna, it was a bit of a culture shock but not that bad, lots of slums etc. To be fair though we really didn't see much of the city, just drove through it quickly so we could get right to the coast, headed south about 45 minutes, through a toll and into Rosalito. We couldn't find the place ... read more

The next day we had planned a day trip to Tijuana! But spent the morning finding a 'Payless' shoe store for Mick (he wanted a pair of boots). We drove all morning with the top down getting hot and a bit sunburnt. The one thing we really dont like in the USA is the maps and street signs! All the maps we had only showed 20% of the roads, and instead of road signs on the freeway indicating a town turnoff, they would only indicate a streetname turnoff (of which only 20% were on our map); so we would never know what town we were in just that we had just passed 42nd street??? Very annoying - and if any of you watch our holiday video please excuse the fuity language! Mexico was an experience! We ... read more

Hello Everyone- It has been some time since I have talked with most of you, so I thought that I would give you a little update about where I have been and what I have been up to. I have been unemployed for 4 weeks thus far and have been enjoying it very much, after moving that is. I was going to start my West Coast tour on Labor Day weekend, but I seriously thought about the traffic and instead went and spent the weekend at an undisclosed location…it was a great time! So I started on the drive after Labor Day weekend and went down the Oregon Coast. Along the way I made a stop at Cannon Beach to take some pictures of Haystack Rock, then I cruised to Tillamook Cheese Factory in just enough ... read more

We decided to drive down south of the border into the town of San Felipe which is on the other side of Baja facing the Sea of Cortez. It's way smaller than Ensenada or Rosarito and less frequented by visitors although you would find everything you need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The drive is about a couple of hours from the border city of Mexicali and the highway is, overall, excellent except for some rough patches of asphalt in some sections. And due to the high volume of drug trafficking that's been going on in this part of the world, you would run into a a couple of checkpoints which I thought was done courteously and professionally. I guess the only thing that made me freaked a little bit there was seeing a ... read more

Road tripping with my three favorite allies... I started something with a late night text message to my homegirl Laine after I had a few watermelon martinis with Daniel at Taps in Brea. No one except Miss Laine and Lisa J would drive to Mexico on the fly, and Dan couldn't resist making the trip with us. L&L transport arrived at 11am the following morning to pick us up. Here we go Mexico and Dog House Radio! Persistant niñas tapped their tanned hands on our shirt tails, desperate to make a buck for their families selling vibrant sunflowers and red roses, engraved leather hair bows and colorful hand-woven bracelets. This was my first trip to a third world country, where peddlers were peddling to support their families, unlike the American homeless peddling for booze at a ... read more

Hey everyone I am going to try and catch up to date before I leave for Vancouver... We took a trip back to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, it isn't that dissimilar to the side we already saw, however it is more remote and the less visited of the rim. Nat and I didn't really want to do the hike since we were tired and we'd pretty much been all over it the first time when we flew over it, into it, hiked and saw it during the day and at sunset so we went to the lodge and just hung out and had lunch with Adam & Michael from our tour, they didn't feel like hiking either. Went onto Zion National Park the following day and had a bit of a look around. ... read more

The Adventures of the White Duck* (*Also known as Tim’s flying truck) We started at night from old SLO Victoria, Tim and Rico. He headed off down Highway One, With walky-talkies (and some puns). Through darkness and rain we did go Until we reached San Diego. Two days were spent at Junior’s place Making the trucks super-fast-ace. Others came - it was time to go The time to leave for Mexico (Lettuce, Gerkin, Beet and Mayo)* As we drove down it was pouring, But the white Duck she was soaring. We camped at a spot by the coast (But slept inside where it was toast). The sun did rise for a beaut day, The flock was stoked “Yip-pee-kay-yay!” We headed off down dirt roads, Speeding and weaving through the nodes. The sky was blue and it ... read more
