After 12 hours of what could generously be described as grueling decisions to complete packing for our Around the World Adventure, Doug and I awakened on Sunday morning with visions of overweight luggage. By the grace of our son, Erik, we were taxied to BWI and embarked on our World Tour! Arriving in Toronto by noon, we were able to obtain a hotel shuttle and were checked in by 1:oo. Now what …? Fellow travelers and tour leaders were yet to gather … So left to our own devices we explored the Toronto Airport hotel corridor. Beginning with a Greek luncheon and finishing the day with a superb light meal at the local Westin Restaurant Zacchary. Good morning from Kyoto! This is your blog update re the trip from Toronto to Whitehorse! Long travel day, but so very comfortable on Icelandic Air. The crew we have are phenomenal!!!!! So beautiful, (and handsome), professional and customer service oriented. Made for a very nice day on the plane. It was nice to get out of the brisk and chilly wind of Toronto and head to the sunny, clear weather in Whitehorse (my friend Blaine thanked us all for bringing the nice weather to Whitehorse....ha ha......you're welcome!!!!) We had an amazing lunch on the plane (yes, it's all about the food for me sometimes........and I know Louise is wanting to know the details!)........I had trout and it was YUM-O!!!! This year we had the long spring, by being in the south during the late winter and gradually working our way north. Spring continued on our trip to Alaska. Now fall has arrived and we hope to enjoy a long season of color. One of my goals was to see the Northern Lights. We’ve been learning about them and tracking the solar activity that would make them appear in the night sky. One of the other key ingredients is enough darkness to be able to see them. People have been telling us that some of the best Northern Lights they’d seen were at the end of August.
