There are some things in life that a person can prepare for and feel comfortable that they had done everything possible to make things “just right”. Physically preparing and packing are easy compared to the mental preparation and emotional roller coaster that we are experiencing this week. This week the focus was all about the details. Buying insurance, contacting hotels, confirming travel arrangements and trying to pack 10 months worth of books, clothes, and personal effects into two large, two medium, two carry-on and three back-packs is not nearly as challenging as thinking about what we are leaving behind. If I was staying here in Canada this year I would have been getting ready to head off to our annual administrator’s retreat and preparing for the upcoming school-based planning meetings. Of course it wasn’t difficult to ... read more

Not like we were expecting any. Arriving in mid afternoon we interrupted quiet time and both Duffy and Diogi seemed somewhat unimpressed. Mom and Dad had taken off earlier in the day to attend the Elkhorn Homecoming and I think the dogs had plans that were devious in nature but we spoiled the fun. On Friday night of the August long Terry and Diane hosted us for yet another awesome supper. Yes, we are gaining weight!! Terry was on his last days ... read more

Summer has arrived and it has started with a flurry of activity. Of course anyone who has moved knows that the experience can be trying and tiring. We spent our first afternoon of summer holidays hauling things to storage. Of course it was about 30 degrees Celsius and in the evening we had an unbelievable thunderstorm. We went out to watch as the skies were lit up like a nightclub with an overzealous effects person going crazy with the strobe and fogger. Unfortunately the power went out with the storm and we were without electricity for our final eighteen hours in Eastend...at least we didn't have to vacuum. With an extra trip to the storage and a van completely full we headed to Saskatoon in the mid-afternoon. If was a difficult afternoon as we had to ... read more

Hey. Just doing another blog entry for practice. So I've been booking flights and accommodation like mad. I think I'm pretty well done. I've got some well reviewed hostels booked so I'm looking forward to that. I haven't booked any accommodation in Ioannina, Greece yet but there are some hotels I've found. After the wedding in greece it's all up in the air. I'll have about 5 days to explore. I don't want to make any plans right now. I've got a car rented so we'll see where that takes me. I was planning to drive to Calgary this friday but I may leave thursday instead. I need to pick up a few things in cow-town. Saint Mike signing off for the night.... read more

Hi, I am going to do a preliminary blog entry to get comfortable with this blogging thing. Being on a budget I tried to find the cheapest flight to London. I found that there are charters flying out of Calgary that were around $500 cheaper than any flight out of Saskatoon. So my European adventure will begin by driving to Calgary. I will drive there probably on June 15th. First post. Over and out.... read more

"Well the last 3 weeks have been an interesting time filled with highs and lows!!! The pictures should tell the story from beginning to end so if you are not in a reading mood look at the pictures and you will see our highs and our lows!" The main aim of Saskatoon apart from at vast amounts of alcohol consumption with our rancher friends was to purchase a van in which we could sleep and travel in. So we set out on our quest only to stumble upon a lovely $400 for Econoline van. We took it for an extensive test drive and wam we bought it. This was a very happy day for us. We then went out and pimped up our van with a queen sized bed perfect for the road. The next test ... read more

Hey everyone. I'm leaving on the 29th to join Renata in Croatia and we'll be meeting up at the train station in Zagreb. It's very hot and humid there right now so I'm packing more light clothes and fewer warm ones. We'll see how well this blog works but the plan is to keep everyone up to date on what we're doing. The ups and downs, thrills and spills. Our own version of Eurotrip even. Hopefully with less frontal male nudity. ... read more

I'm not sure if I like this blog. Let us know. Thought it'd be an easy way to let everyone know what we're up to as long as we have some time to use the internet, it wouldn't be a terrible thing if we had more exciting things to do. Email us and tell us what's going on.... read more
