Quad Rides in the Backyard!!??
Terry had to move his quad into the garage and the boys cashed in on a short ride. Not like we were expecting any. Arriving in mid afternoon we interrupted quiet time and both Duffy and Diogi seemed somewhat unimpressed. Mom and Dad had taken off earlier in the day to attend the Elkhorn Homecoming and I think the dogs had plans that were devious in nature but we spoiled the fun. On Friday night of the August long Terry and Diane hosted us for yet another awesome supper. Yes, we are gaining weight!! Terry was on his last days in Saskatoon before heading back to the real heat of Yemen. It was nice to be able to see Terry this summer as we haven’t connected since October of last year. We all enjoyed a relaxing weekend getting into the groove of the Fringe Festival. A farewell pancake breakfast for Terry and hosted by Terry and Diane on Sunday morning occurred and once again we
Apprentice Artist
Activities for children were a hit at this year's fringe were well fed. Sunday afternoon had Terry leaving Saskatoon and Gail and Ariana arriving from their visit in Melville. Mom and Dad also made their way back from the Elkhorn reunion. We had a nice supper over at Diane's and if life wasn't busy enough I had to take Owen to register for hockey camp. I watched Owen try out his new skates after registration...one of those bizarre moments of life...plus 30 Celsius and kids skating!
On the Monday of the August long Owen started hockey camp at Excel Hockey School in Saskatoon. The camp occurred everyday from 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM. During that time Owen had two 1.5 hour on-ice sessions and on off-ice session with a half an hour nutrition break. During Owen’s first on ice session I would alternate each day running, biking, or working out. I even got very ambitious and ran 10K one of the mornings. I think it was a guilt driven trot inspired by many big feasts over the summer. It was a very busy week for everyone with the afternoons filled with attending the Fringe. We squeezed in a supper at Genny and Mitch’s place one evening as well as
Don't Try This at Home
The street performers are usually very good and popular at the Fringe. That is as long as they don't draw out the performance to garner a bigger crowd. Rule of thumb: Happy people tip more! going to Diane’s for a dinner party with some of Sharon’s friend who had shows in the Fringe. The week culminated of hockey with a game on Saturday morning and attending a wedding in the afternoon and evening. Owen got into a small fight with one of his teammates during the warm-up. I guess the guy had pushed Owen to the limit all week with his I better than everyone else attitude. It was more of a pushing match and it was resolved in short order. Apparently the fruit does not fall far from the tree. Really, the person at the front of the line ALWAYS gets a puck from those behind in the line…that kid was being very rude AND breaking one of the many cardinal rules of hockey drills.
In total we attended 5 children shows and one adult show not including the two times we attended Sharon’s production called The Medicine Show. We had plenty of laughs and Benjamin was scarred for life by the antics of the Wildman. Not really…to clarify...one of the characters in the show was a Wildman discovered in Africa. Inevitably the Wildman lost control because of his frustration at not being
Sweet Dreams
It is nice to see smiling faces at bedtime. The boys have been great at keeping a reasonably regular sleep schedule. able to recall a certain line from Shakespeare. The Wildman then went into the audience and accosted an unsuspecting audience member by messing up their hair and shouting don’t look in my eyes in his outrageous Wildman voice. Benjamin was the victim in the first row on our first viewing. Benjamin was sure to look away on both occasions when the Wildman confronted him. His eyes were as wide open as I’ve ever seen them. When we went to the show the second time Benjamin wisely chose to sit a few rows back and would not look at the Wildman no matter what! The boys loved the show as they have been reciting many of the lines and jokes they heard verbatim.
Of course there is no time for busy boys to have a day off and we were driving Owen to Torch Trail Bible Camp the day after he finished hockey camp. With only two weeks to go before we leave it is getting very exciting and busy. I guess you will have to tune in another time to get the details.

Hello from the Constituency Office
Thanks for keeping us up to date on your summer activities. You are so busy I don't think you'll have time to read the comments! Kerry was also at a hockey school in Saskatoon on August long, if only we'd known we could have hooked up. Things are slow in the office, the farmers are all on their combines and everyone else fitting in last minute holidays before school begins. Wayne is gone to the Midwest Leg Conference in Traverse, Michigan, so Ceanna and I are holding down the fort for the next couple of days. We all enjoy reading your blog and can't wait to see the photos and comments after you arrive in Costa Rica! Take care, think about you lots.
