Wow, so many things to prepare, so many documents to get ready....But I just love it!! I could spend my entire life preparing trips and living them... With Christmas on its way, it makes a lot of things to think about, but all I have in mind is myself in 46 days on a plane to London, Bangkok and Sydney! Around the world!! :) ... read more

Bonsoir.

Man konnte seinen ... read more

Today is actually December 3, so my memory of the trip is starting to fuzz around the edges.. Check-in for the conference was at 5pm, and Andrea had class that day, so it was Candy Takes on Montreal Day! I had big big plans, and so little time! We start the day off with the Last Supper (breakfast) at Andrea's; I shall miss her bachelorette pad, but I commemorated it by taking lots of photos. Somehow we managed to get my hugeass luggage down the stairs (she lives on 2nd floor), and since it was a nice day we decided to take the bus. We hopped on the bus (this time we decided to be legit, so I paid full adult fare. :( The bus route stops by my hotel on the way to Concordia, ... read more

9:30am: L'Arrival, Montreal-Trudeau airport. After the insanely miserable red-eye flight and the boring transfer and being awake for the last 20 hours or so, I finally finally arrive. French land! There is so much more French than I'd expected! It's oui this and non that. Crazies. Spent some time trying to figure out where the dealio the L'aerobus (shuttle to downtown) was with my pathetic french. Hopped on the shuttle to Berri Central and met up with Andrea! Yay! Her bachelorette pad is the coolest nichiest spot in the plateau. Ooh la la. I was there to see the christening of her new tv. Yayyyy! We took a long 1hr walk to downtown because she had to go to class, and I passed by all the sights and sees, including the world-famous Schwartz's meaties. I get ... read more

I was keener and arrived at the airport 2 hours early, at 9pm for an 11:05pm red-eye flight. Along the way I bumped into Mike who said he'd be in Toronto for 18 hours before heading to Montreal, but the real problem was, where would he shower? Helloooo KFC wet wipes... Fact #1: YVR is ghetto. When I went to the WestJet counter to check in, this is what happened: WestJet: Hi, your last name? Me: Lee WestJet: Candy Yuen Yan? Me: Yes..? WestJet: Perfect, here's your boarding pass, and leave your baggage in the corner wall behind me there Me: Erm.. don't I need to have my.. id.. out? WestJet: Have a good flight! Great security. Hellloooooo terrorists. I went through screening quite quickly. If you know me you'll realize this is an absolute miracle ... read more

We discovered that the only cheap flight we could get to Calgary would leave at 7.30am on Saturday morning so i felt that it seemed logical for us to spend that night in the airport, then we could save on a nights accommodation and ensure we did not miss the flight. So around 9pm we went to the airport and just sat there, it was hard going and i soon thought i'd had a really stupid idea to do it this way. I tried to sleep at the airport and i think that i did sleep a bit but if i did it was only for an hour or so. My travel companion did not sleep at all. At 5am we were able to check in and the departure lounge was far more comfortable. Elaine seemed ... read more

The rain is sprinkling My umbrella is mangles Walking in the rain. As predicted by weather.com, the rains started to fall overnight. I didn't realize how mangled my umbrella got from when I foolishly opened it on that gusty, rainy day last Sunday. So I ended up tossing my Edinburgh green plaid umbrella into the bin. But that's okay. I have my water resistant jacket and toque to keep me warmish and hopefully dry! Luckily the rain is not coming down too hard and I shouldn't be out in the rain for too long. My first stop was for some breakfast at Tim Horton's. For some reason I was feeling really famished when I awoke this morning. A growth spurt perhaps? haha Nothing like a toasted bagel and hot chocolate to start the day! Plus stopping ... read more

It was a seven hour drive to Montreal from Toronto, this was an experience i was looking forward to mainly because the city is french speaking, something that you don't get anywhere else in North America. The hostel is of a decent standard, but its very basic, but after coming off the Toronto one i guess i was bound to be a bit disappointed, i don't think that one will be surpassed. It said me get "free breakfast" but that is just toast and coffee, still if its free its good. What seems particularly different here though is that the natives are ruder that Toronto, one example id how they "demand" tips from you, well i thought that tips were to be given for good services, surely asking for them makes the service worse in itself? ... read more

Meeting an old friend Four years since seeing Dana I'm super psyched up! Well, I've made plans to meet up with Dana today and I'll finally be able to meet Eddy. So it's gonna be an exciting day today especially since the weather is nice and sunny. The plan is to check out Old Montréal l and go from there. There is apparently a really huge one with tons of stuff to check out. Whatever we do I'm sure it'll be awesome. On that note, I should lace up my boots and head downstairs where Dana and Eddy will pick me up. I waited outside in the chilliness for Dana and Eddy who were running a bit late. But I had on my many layers so it was okay. Mind you the cement steps I was ... read more
