Oh well! I got home on August 20th after a 37 hours flight. After another two times 37 hours, I was back to work. I have to admit that it was and is still quite a shock. I was supposed to take two more weeks off from work before going back but they were in a big rush so I decided that it was just fair to give them a hand. But I warned my boss that I would be pretty rusty. Rusty is not the word. While reading and studying drawings and projects, I frequently find myself staring out of windows and dreaming about what just happened (in the last 8 months). This trip was like a K.O. caused by an overstimulation of the senses. I've seen so many breathtaking places, heard so many different ... read more

And this is the reason why we love where we live now. We never really knew it, but MONTREAL is only about a 6 hour drive from us. Off course the moment we found that it was this close we booked a hotel and took off. We did not really know what to expect. All I knew was that most people call Montreal the "Paris" of the Americas. It was our first trip to Canada so we did not really know what to expect. We got there and all we saw were bridges and rivers - never a bad thing. It just turned out that our first night there was our wedding anniversary so we figured we'd celebrate with some good food. Well what we got was better than good food - it was incredible food. ... read more

It is not all work and no play, and Colin and Judith mind the booth while Brando and I take some time to look around the convention and see what the other Fellowships are doing. After the convention, some sightseeing took us throughout Montreal, visiting the St. Joseph Cathedral, the Notre-Dame Basilica where Celine Dion had her famous wedding, the Formula 1 Racetrack, and many more sights. We had lunch at a Portuguese Restaurant called Ferreira, owned by well known chef Carlos Ferreira, was fantastic, with fried sardines, octopus for Brando and carrot/sweet potato soup for me. ... read more

ACHAFR breakfast meeting held Tuesday, June 22, from 7:00am-9:00am, in the Palais des Congres de Montreal Room #521. We discuss with the new and existing members what we have planned for the future of ACHAFR. We hope to grow the North American Chapter so that we can further develop sub chapters within the local geographies, and support their efforts for individual car shows and rallys. We had a busy booth, and our own District Governor from Riverview Florida, Ed Odom, came by to visit. Dinner for ACHAFR members at Dundee's in Montreal. Another example of those friendly Canadians... when someone saw the police near the car, they found us inside the restaurant and suggested we move the car away from the fire hydrant. Once Brando went outside, the police actually saved another spot, even closer to ... read more

I want to take a moment to talk about the charity we are supporting on this Tour, the Kids Wish Network. Since 1997, Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for thousands of children all over the country. The charity started out with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering with life-threatening conditions. It is a 501c3 organization that we support enthusiastically and can vouch for their authentic work for the needy children they serve. One specific fundraiser that we wish to support is the Corvette Dream Giveaway to benefit Kids Wish Network’s Hero program. It is a sweepstakes to win two Corvettes (1967 427/435 HP Classic Restored Roadster & 2010 Brad Paisley Hero Edition ZR1). KWN will provide a special promotional code for ACHAFR members, Rotarians, and Car Club members who ... read more

Farewell dinner with Colin Weeks, President of ACHAFR International, wife Judith, Jan den Hartog, President of Netherlands Chapter ACHAFR, Brando and myself. Dinner was at the Newtown Restaurant, owned by Formula One Race Driver Jacques Villeneuve. We had a fabulous meal- Cold Québec asparagus soup, Beef tartar, Duck foie gras terrine, and many fantastic deserts. A great trip, we have signed plenty of new members, and have plenty more leads for later. A successful trip, a great time to meet members, and make new friends! It was so nice to put the faces with the names when we met Colin, Judith and Jan! We also got to meet in person some ACHAFR members of the North American Chapter- Vivien Adams, Bob Wolfenden, Brian Monroe, Peter Hughes. The convention was awesome. Attendees were also dazzled by a ... read more

I went to Montreal for new years 2010. I travelled there with my grade 11 class. We were there 3 days 2 night. In that time, we stayed in the holiday. We went to two clubs, the mall and mcgill university. It was the single most greatest New Years trip of all time.... read more

Arrived Sunday evening on VIA Rail Canada (the train). We traveled from Niagara Falls through Toronto. The ride was about 5 hours long and went well. The cost was around $170 each. Trains are very clean and roomy. We arrived in Montreal's train station at 9:50pm and found a room online for $99. The hotel is the Grand Plaza Centre-Ville. It's a nice clean hotel. The cab ride to the hotel cost about $10. We were warned by the cab driver that some of the areas near the hotel is not safe. We took his advice and stayed in and ordered pizza, probably the best pizza I've ever had. We ate buffet breakfast in the hotel this am. After breakfast we took the Metro (subway) to Notre Dame Basilica. This is the largest church in North ... read more

Hello everyone! I know it has been a while but it isn't always easy to find a couple of spare hours for computer work. We have seen more incredible places and met more wonderful people. Our team (family) now consists of Jeff, Will, Sammie, Marc, Hank and me. Seems to be working well. Weather has still been co-operating on the most part. We have stayed in a couple more crazy hotels and also some more like jail cells. On the most part they have been very good. Hank and I were without a truck for a few days. The other team borrowed it because theirs broke down. We travelled in the SUV with Jeff and Will. That was fun. We went whale watching in Les Escomins. Unsuccessful, but very beautiful. At the celebration in Roberval I ... read more
