I'm leaving in a few hours. Once again, I've left packing for the last minute. Hopefully this travel blog - - which would have been a godsend when I was on the road in Southeast Asia for 16 months in 1999-2000 - - will help me capture my thoughts and let you know what's happening in the holy land while I'm there for two weeks. The truth is that I am nervous about heading to a "hotspot" - life has been treating me quite well of late, and I'd hate to suffer the fate of George Costanza (from Seinfeld), who after finally finding his calling as a hand model, injures himself by falling into a hot clothes iron. More when I arrive. I promise to keep this up as long as people are reading it.... read more

Rieccoci...

Well for the weekend we went to Montreal with all the internationals. We hired cars and drove up on the friday, went out for dinner that night at a nice place near our hostel. On saturday we walked around for most of the day checking out the city and then went to a really cool pub kinda like little creatures in freo, by our hostel and had beers, chips and gravy. was really nice. That night we went to a club called Living which was ok but i was pretty tired. Although having said that, caitlin gave me a hair cut and i ended up with an exquisite mullet! still got it now. On sunday we left the hostel - which was amazing - and headed out to the olympic stadium. Would you believe that australia ... read more

So, now onto stage 2 of Mission get Amy around the world! I managed to get myself to the airport on time leaving new york at 5:30am to make the train to Newark. Poor Pat had to lug my big pack pack across the city for me as I didn't have the strength with this flu! I got myself checked in and got selected for a random search at customs! They took swabs from my bags and shoes and put them through a machine, also had a body search-was a little scared! I got to Toronto airport and it was absolutely dead, nobody else around but a lady on a trolley! I asked about the shuttle bus to get me downtown but she was pretty useless and didn't help at all. When I got on the ... read more

I felt a little adventurous today, so I took the metro and did a little exploring around the old European part of town - Old Montreal. The Notre Dame Basilica was pleasantly around the corner once I stepped outside of the mall that was connected to the metro station at Place D'armes. I was already happy to see the European-style buildings. It only took me $2 to get in because I'm under 18. No surprise, the Notre Dame was very beautiful, as evident in the pictures. I'm not sure if it's because of the whole Christmas ordeal, but a lot of enchanting candles were lit around the inside of the church (I got to take a lot of amazing shots of them: my Art Gallery). There was an almost hidden Chapelle Notre Dame Du Sacre-Coeur behind ... read more
