Just a little aside for 5 minutes. The other night I was being industrious and decided to clean off the top or our ceramic hob. In the process of wiping this down with a cloth and some water I somehow managed to childlock the hob. Since, at that time, we did not have an instruction manual for the hob it proved completely impossible for us to un-childproof the hob, meaning that we could not cook ANYTHING! at all. After trying for two consecutive nights to unlock the hob, I finally lost the plot last night and stormed down to the reception desk, in my fluffy pink slippers (which the guy in the elevator commented on) and demanded that someone tell us how to unlock the hob. We arrived in Dubai at 7 in the morning after a 15 hour flight we were knackered and were really happy that the hotel had sent a driver to pick us up and when we got to the hotel we only had to wait 30 minutes before we could check in. The first day was a bit of a wasted day. We were both so tired so didnt feel like doing much. We spent day 2 at Wild Wadi water park. There aren’t many big rides at the park and it’s ideal for families. The biggest ride was a 33-metre freefall slide described as the tallest and fastest free-fall slide outside of North America with speeds of 80km per hour on which you will experience the exhilaration of weightlessness. We finally went out and celebrated Jeremy getting a job on Thursday night. It has only taken us 3 weeks! Therefore a drink at a lovely bar was well overdue. So off we tripped to the emirates towers where we met up with another lovely kiwi couple to celebrate. Rod and Jess are newbies to Dubai as well and we have a couple of lovely drinks on the 51st floor of the Emirates towers over looking Dubai at night. The drinks were not all that cheap but the menu was enormous! We could hardly lift the drinks menu. Jess had a 88 dirham drink (which translates to roughly $40 dollars). Hi all, Well finally some fun photo's of me out and about this city. Derryn and I recently went to the Rugby Ball and had a ball. Meeting some great people and really starting to enjoy life here. Pictured is Kate (blonde) and her friend Georgie. We met Kate at the Netball Ball and is always a tonne of fun to hang out with. Dubai First impression is the shopping that reminds me of Malaysia, come in and have a look, no hassle - but you can’t even walk past without hassle. 2nd flight into Dubai wasn’t the best, we lost our liquids with the 100ml in 1L plastic bag thing, then the footrest didn’t go fully down on the right so left leg was an inch or two lower, and didn’t allow tray table to go down. This normally wouldn’t bother me, only the chair was high and my legs were dangling and could feel DVT growing by the second. Anyway, nice meal and watched Music and Lyrics which was great and then Children of Men which was shit to say the least and played Centipede an old Atari game .
