After a suitable period of mourning, I am finally emotionally prepared to write of the rugby 'incident' that was.. Al, Bing & I decided we had 4 significant goals for the day: A) Collect our rental car and ensure we wern't ripped off and given a bus of some description B) Successfull arrival and check in at our dodgy Etap budget hotel and ensure the booking was valid C) Not being refused entry from Cardiff's Millenium Stadium with what could very well be pirated tickets. D) Win the game Meatloaf says '2 out of 3 aint bad' but his maths is awful. As is now history, we managed 3 out of 4. Basically as soon as I got here, fabulous oppurtunities started throwing themselves into my path like the deranged squirrels that flock all over campus (they FLOCK. I had never seen squirrels do this before, and it's quite creepy). Tonight I'm actually escaping the evil greasy clutches of the cafeteria for the third time today and going out to a reportedly amazing restaurant in Cowbridge, with my Zimbabwean roommate and her link family. Which really is a fabulous opportunity, if you knew how bland and fatteningly boring the cafeteria food was here. Going out for dinner also allows me to escape the Sports Week basketball game, which I was forced to join after the Ultimate Frisbee surprise, where I would easily be a foot shorter than everyone else on the team. Well Folks here we are trying out new technology, we have both got head aches but wev,e done it. Just to inform you all that we will be leaving on Thurs 1st Nov 2007 for Los Angeles staying on the Queen Mary. followed by Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thialand and then Home. The Rugby…Wales…England It’s been hard finding the time to do an update but here goes- We arrived in Cardiff and the first sign we saw was ALLAN it seems the Welsh have worked out what to do with their Allan’s as it means Exit. We loved Cardiff a good mix of the old and the new, the locals were also very friendly. We stayed at a farm B & B just west of Cardiff, the house was full of Rubgy fans so loads of fun. We caught a train into Cardiff for the Rugby and it was a sea of Red & White and Green & Yellow. We had great seats in the middle section on the halfway line right behind the press. I've been easing into my official school schedule for the past week now, which has gone by much faster than I thought it would. This is possibly because I finally have free time in my academic schedule for the first time in my life! I've got two completely free blocks (the first of which I'm relishing right now) and two more free hours in the afternoon if I haven't got CAVRA or an activity. Before I discovered morning free blocks, I had no idea that 50 minutes is the perfect amount of time to leisurely brew and truly enjoy a steraming cup of coffee...I've just emerged from my math class, which is quickly becoming one of my favorites if only because the teacher always picks these outrageously politically incorrect examples to illustrate problems ("Let's find the ... read more
