Today we headed of for Llangollen (pronounced clangoclen - or thereabouts!!) Once again the Navgirl decided to give Mark's driving a test. We went on a few small roads instead of the major highways. You see with the SatNav you can choose to go to a place the fastest or the shortest... I know what you're saying... that would be about the same thing wouldn't it?... well no it isn't.... the fastest was going to be somewhere around 200 miles of traveling.... the shortest was 130 miles... which way I here you say??.... well the shortest of course.... BAD MOVE!! I think this time we actually hit some Z roads... they even had grass growing in the middle of them!! LOL.... A quick re programing of Navgirl and we headed for some of the bigger A ... read more

other thoughts: has anyone ever seen welsh in print? its quite funny. they have everything here posted in both welsh and english, sort of like in Canada, though I think they take it a little more seriously, although maybe i notice it more because it looks so foreign to me. I'll give you an example (justsomething I see around me): CARDIFF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS UNION - UNDEB MYFYRWYR PRIFYSGOL CAERDYDD. funny eh? uh, what else, theres a big castle here, but we were three minutes after the last tour and they wouldn't let us on, but we'll do it another day. the main drag reminds me of major streets in Rome, just in that the doors to the nicer shops are as wide as the shops themselves, and also that there are no cars allowed on ... read more

Those of you who’ve been keeping in touch with me over the phone already know the story of my little adventure. But for those of you who’ve neglected to call me, never fear - through the wonders of the internet, the details of the story can be yours! I should just mention before I begin that some of the themes are a little adult (or maybe just childish) but if you’re feeling prudish, you may as well read this entry another day, or after a strong drink. I thought about not including this story at all, or censoring it, but I figured if I kept this blog politically correct it might get boring rather quickly, and that I’d probably eventually drop it. Besides, I’m sick of retelling the story, so this’ll be the last time for ... read more

Hiya All We decided to stay a second night at the Savoy Country Inn and do a day trip to all the places in the area instead of packing up. It's such a nice little pub and the meals are great and also the Managers are really nice too. We had a cooked breakfast again this morning, and Mark tried the Black Pudding. He wasn't really impressed with it. He said it was pretty plain really and didn't finish it. I didn't have any, I figured I'd had my fill as a kid when Dad made us have it for Christmas breakfast. We drove up to Cardigan, and because we told NavGirl to avoid the motorways she took us through all the small country roads. All the roads here are numbered. The main freeway type ones are ... read more

I did not wake up this morning to find I had turned into a gigantic insect, but it was just as surreal. First of all, I think I've actually got a legitimate sunburn in February. The weather is so alliteratively brilliant and balmy and beautiful that I've spent all my free time outside for the past few days; I even succeeded in having my Spanish class taught outside this Thursday because I announced that I would die a cold and sudden death without the beautiful rays of the shining sun (I said it in Spanish, and I don't actually have the vocabulary yet to be sane when I ask for things). Perhaps the weather itself is attempting to make up for certain other heartless nature-butchering eco-fascist anti-non-conformist qualities of the world, not mentioning THOSE AWFUL FAT ... read more

Gday all Well today we deicided to do a bit more travelling and drive to the south west Welsh coast After leaving Tintern we were driving towards Abergavenny and Julia noticed a castle ruin on our right. So being in no hurry we consulted our British Heritage Book and saw that we had free entry into Raglan Castle, a 15th century Castle the last castle to be built on Welsh soil. After a quick U Turn at one of about 80 roundabouts we went through today we stopped. What a fantastic place. You enter through one of the old gate houses and there is the moat and great gate This castle was the last castle to fall during the English Civil War. The place was so well built that when The Parliamentarians took it they had ... read more

Hiya Everyone Today we headed off nice and early from the hotel so we could get a bit of travelling done. We was all packed and breakfasted (is that a word?) by 7.30am and headed of to Stonehenge. We made better time than we thought, so hung around in the village of Amesbury for an hour until the rocks opened. What a lovely little village. The pub was opened in the 16th century, and all of the doors leading into the shops around the place were so low that I nearly had to duck to get through them! We went to the stones and had an audio tour around them. What a great place. The history is all speculation, they don't really know how they got there or what their purpose was but the amount of ... read more

O, my clothesline! I loved thee The chainsaw wailing alertest me this afternoon, to butchery! Today they cleavedst thou from thy tree O, my clothesline! Thou and I Didst make my bedsheets smell like sky I couldst not just suppress my cry so shouted at the workers, "WHY!?!" O, my clothesline! O, what doom Thou hast passed, I must needs resume My washing in the musty gloom that is the Morgannwg drying room O, my clothesline! How I care! I considered for a second there Pulling a Tiananmen Square What other way could I thee spare? O , my clothesline! I yelled a lot My protests did not do a spot Of good, for no one had forgot They had a chainsaw, I had not O my clothesline! Straits most dire! I never dreamed thou wouldst ... read more

First Entry: We arrived in England four days ago. We've been staying in the small town of Goudhurst. When people talk about small town England, they're not just talking about the number of people in the town, they're also refering to the diminutive size of all of the towns structures. It's hilarious, ducking your head to enter someone's house, or walking past a shop whose eavestroph only reaches to your shoulder. We've just arrived in Cardiff, Wales - the South-West side of the UK. It's very beautiful, and a university town to boot, so we'll be sure to have some fun here. We're just about to head out to see some sights, and later we'll be going clubbing, which is apparantly what everyone does here. soooo someone is reading over my shoulder. and I should get ... read more

Before AC, my life was barely exciting enough to fuel a single episode of Last Of The Summer Wine, and now it could possibly inspire an entire season of the O.C. On the whole my week has been quite surreal, mainly because usually these sorts of things only happen in guilty-pleasure teen shows. My hidden camera crew apparently started filming at the Open Mic on Saturday night at the Globe Lounge, the final performance of AC focus week in which a lot of the teachers went up and sang or told little anecdotes about their time at the college. The open mic must have expected the rich and diverse history of Atlantic college to actually inspire rich and diverse anecdotes, because they were done about an hour and a half earlier than they planned (the show ... read more
