Gday all

Well today we deicided to do a bit more travelling and drive to the south west Welsh coast

After leaving Tintern we were driving towards Abergavenny and Julia noticed a castle ruin on our right. So being in no hurry we consulted our British Heritage Book and saw that we had free entry into Raglan Castle, a 15th century Castle the last castle to be built on Welsh soil.

After a quick U Turn at one of about 80 roundabouts we went through today we stopped. What a fantastic place.

You enter through one of the old gate houses and there is the moat and great gate

This castle was the last castle to fall during the English Civil War. The place was so well built that when The Parliamentarians took it they had to take 12 weeks just to undermine one tower, so they gave up and just left the ruins.

Though it is in ruins there are only about 4 places you arent allowed to go. so we spent the next hour or so climbing all over it.

Prince Charles was Invested here as the Prince of Wales in 1969.

We then travelled on through the Welsh countryside to Abergavenny then to Merthyr Tydfil where we stopped for a while and went through what I consider the biggest single supermarket shop I have ever seen, it was huge.

After getting NavMan lost a couple of times because of all these little streets we finally managed to get back on the main road and travelled to Llanelli...poor NavMan she had her work cut out for her today....6 exits off a roundabout was getting a bit much for the poor girl...but she has paid for herself in just this trip...no stress, no arguments just let the old girl do her work and she will find your way for you.

We stopped at Llanelli for a bit of lunch and surprise surprise Julia found another Marks and Spencer so we had lunch in the cafe there and Jules did some shopping...After Llanelli we went on to Carmarthen, had look around, couldnt find a decent place to stay so we thought to drive to Pembroke looking along the way for a nice little pub or B & B and did we strike a beauty...again its an 18th century building in the

How thick the walls were
middle of nowhere...near St Clears, an old Farm House that has been converted into the Savoy Country Inn.

We didnt take many photos today but there are a few.
The first is of the Hotel we stayed in in Tintern Parva and the last is of this hotel. (We played with the camera and took some panorama shots of the Hotels that we thought came out alright

We are going to stop here again on Sunday Night and go and look around the areas of St Clears and St Davids....until next time

Love to all

Mark and Julia
