As I sat atop a stone age hill fort with two of my very close friends here in Lampeter, David, and Rae, the words that Dave said struck me. "I wonder how fast my time here will go by. I will be looking back at this moment three years from now as if it were today again. Time is odd like that." There is something about the hill fort, something about the way that the scenery makes you feel. It is almost as if time has stopped. You are neither in the present or the past but somewhere in between. Therefore all you are left to do is wonder about your future. I love Wales, it is so beautiful and it has so many hidden secrets tucked away in the hills. When I first arrived at ... read more

Hello all, This will be the start of my regular blog posts. I feel awful that I have not had the time to write, but to be honest, this is the first time that I have sat still in a very long time. Since I wrote last, I have traveled to London and then from the south of England to Southwestern Wales. I have visited Central London, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. I rode past the Globe theatre and stayed 4 nights in a local pub/youth hostel, wherein I learned that I could have fun and learn life lessons at the same time. I have traveled to Kent County to visit Henry VIII's castle of Leeds, Canterbury Cathedral, The White Cliffs of Dover, Warwick Castle. I have walked through the home that held the birth of ... read more

I've been to New Quay on holiday quite a few times now. It's very picturesque. It's great to watch the dolphins from the harbour wall when they visit on many mornings during a week. ... read more

Obviously I've got slightly more of an issue than Sarah B. I am currently in Aberystwyth, still living in halls! So, not only have I gotta pack for the summer, I've also got to pack to move out of my house! And, as most of you will know, when it comes to packing I am the worlds best procrascinator. Well today was full of much excitement of running around and buying the last few bits and pieces for the trip. As long as I don't forget my passport it will all be fine! Well our holiday starts on Sunday when we travel to Heathrow to spend the night there. Thankfully fate has meant the Apprentice final is now on Sunday instead of when we are abroad. Could our holiday get off to a better start? I ... read more

After a stressful Saturday of packing and sorting out the house, we finally set of for the long first leg trip to Wales. Stopping off in Cheltenham for a nice Sunday roast with Tom (not a morsel left for Sid!), we carried on driving toward the amazing sunset. I hope we see more sunsets like this, replacing the rolling Welsh hills with the deserted islands on the Philippines, or the dramatic rising rocks on the Great Ocean Road or even the mountains in NZ! Still, nothings better than knowing we have our own very beautiful part of the world to return to. But enough about all that, this chapters about the little guy! With the glorious weather we have been having here, Sidney's been getting in the groove with his frisbee catching on his very own ... read more

Helo from Wales! We arrived here on Monday afternoon after a fantastic train ride via Birmingham and then to Aberystwyth where my friend Daf lives. Daf and I met in Grenada last summer on our mission trip. Throughout the countryside we saw many sheep (defaid), some even running up hill... silly sheep! As soon as you cross over into Wales the geography changes quite significantly into rolling hills and small mounts. The sky was so blue and the weather was phenomenal. At one stop an elderly gentlemen dressed complete with a brown trenchcoat and Sherlock Holmes hat boarded our car; I broke out into silent laughter as this appeared to have been out of a movie. The strangest thing was, no sooner than a couple of minutes later he was typing away on his palm pilot. ... read more

Hi Guys, Having managed to avoid being run over by the enormous number of Tipper Trucks in Ireland I'm now safely back in Blighty travelling along the beautiful coast of Wales. Although the scenery is stunning one is instantly refamaliarised with the undulating hills which can be taxing at times. The bike ride is also taking its toll on the bike. North of Aberystwyth, I suddenly noticed that my back wheel was heavily buckled and checking the spokes it turns out that 5 of them had snapped. Anyway, I ended up staying in Borth (8 miles north)of Aberystwyth for an extra day to get a new wheel. Not the most exciting of places and dreadful weather. The only thing to do was watch Chelsea get stuffed by Aston Villa in the local boozer. Further on up ... read more

Good Evening from rainy Wales, Though it has been a constant downpour since about 1 p.m. we had a fabulous morning and actually saw sun for almost 1 sustained hour. Absolutely fantastic - except it made the gray and cold that came later even grayer, by comparison. Oh well. Because there was not rain early in the day, we headed about 8 miles away to a train station - one of the 'Great Little Trains of Wales' and traveled an hour in an old narrow gauge steam engine train up the mountain. What a wonderful time we had. Then we got out at the end and walked along a beautiful forest path with gushes of water (I wonder why) and some breathtaking waterfalls. It was a lovely way to remember Wales - and Lee had a ... read more

Good Morning, Dear Family and Friends, I'm sitting in the north reading room of the National Library of Wales in the town of Abersystwyth, about 18 miles from our resort. This is a coastal town and there is blue sky over the ocean - a sky color we have not seen in 10 days. Trouble is, as it moves over land, it becomes gray and we experience rain in all its forms - drizzle, just a few drops, downpour, sheets - amazingly wet and quite chilly. The choice is to be grumpy or get on with it, and we have thrown on our jackets, put up the umbrellas, and have begun to explore this unusual and beautiful country. Lee has mastered the roads and the signs - basically drive on the left, look to your right, ... read more

Dear Friends, After a very shaky start (the car rental that we so carefully secured before we arrived) was all mixed up and ended up costing us almost 100 pounds more than the promised price (we'll deal with that later), we were on the road - the wrong side for Americans. Lee did a superb job once we figured out just how close to the lines we were on these very narrow roads. Good heavens, what a trip. Much of the 4 hours was spent on good highways, but the last hour was hairy at best. We arrived around 5:30 at this lovely resort - driving through sheep and cow and horse farms on the long windy, narrow, road to the entrance. Arrived only to find that somehow Interval International had cancelled our reservation and the ... read more
