Few things in this world ever made me feel smaller than I felt whilst standing above the vast body of water that is called Loch Lomond. I stood across from Ben Lomond and its mighty craggs were covered by clouds but it stood before me masking the dark islands that floated below. I expected vikings and warriors to spread out all around me or for dragons and fairies to tug at my sleeves pulling me into the dark watery abyss that surely had been laid out before me. It was such a beautiful and awe inspiring location, a place that for so many people must have always stood as a comfort of home. To me it was one of the last sights that I ever saw in the UK, at least for this chapter in my ... read more

Hello all, I have returned from my beautiful adventure studying abroad in Lampeter, Wales!! I have since my last post said goodbye to many close friends and someone even closer, traveled to the gorgeous Scottish Highlands and the ancient city of Edinburgh, came together with my close friends and family at home and had a fantastic Christmas Holiday. Adjusting to home life is much harder than I expected. I still have so much to say about Scotland but am still digesting the idea that this adventure is over. I put a lot of my heart into those Ceredigion hills and a lot of my dreams are scattered all across cities and countrysides of the UK. I still hear music and laughter and jokes and stories, and I still see mountains and rivers, castles and trees. I ... read more

This is more or less just a few photos. I previously posted a couple of blogs but thought I would just attach photos of the Crwydro experience! I am super happy with it. Anyhow, I hope you all enjoyed my trip to Wales haha. The next blog posts will consist of Scotland, the trip home, and hopefully some hiking experiences. :)... read more

This will be my last travel blog post from Wales: (Written last night) NEXT STOP: SCOTLAND!!! I cannot lie...at the moment my heart is very heavy. Life is a crazy little thing, it takes you through so many little twists of fate. I am so grateful for having had such a blessed opportunity to experience the great wealth of things that such a little town in Wales had to offer to me. There are so many emotions that I do not have words for. I was able to accomplish so much and still managed to leave some of the more important things too late to serve justice to. I will never forget the form of person that I came to Wales as...but more importantly I could not appreciate any more than in this very moment the ... read more

"Wild animals could not stay in a country where there were so many people Pa did not like to stay, either. He liked a country where the wild animals lived without being afraid."- Laura Ingalls Wilder. -so here is a heads up to everyone, tomorrow I will be getting a tattoo on my left wrist that reads "Crwydro" this means "Wander" in Welsh. I felt that my parents especially needed a better explanation of why I would get a tattoo. When I was a little girl, I admired the Little House on the Prairie series because my Dad and Mom would read it to me in my Grandparent's basement in Kansas...Laura and I had a lot in common. Our hero was our Daddy, our role model was our Mama. Neither of us ever stayed in one ... read more

Hello all!!
I know it has been too long since I have last written. In fact I told so many of you that a blog was on the way, but the truth is that traveling, school work, life, and writing is a lot to balance. Not to mention, this blog took way too much pondering. This will be quite a long one... I recently traveled over land and sea with my best friend Rae to the beautiful green island that is Ireland!!!! Anyone in my family will tell you that I have dreamed of the moment that would occur when I would step off of the boat that would lead me to the footfalls of my ancestors since I was about four. Finally after years of patiently waiting that moment arrived!! Let me tell you something that ... read more

Hello again all, I am sorry for the long hiatus between posts recently. To be honest, I did not write because the honey-moon period of magical adventures had ended for me. I was learning who my real friends were and what I would have to do to continue on with those who I could keep close. I was learning that it is not always sunny or always rainy in Wales, there is no perfect weather just as there is no perfect place. For so long I believed that I had found heaven on earth, and although I still believe that I have found something very close to it, I have dealt recently with many of the same issues that I deal with in the USA. Human nature is a universal state and it is very flawed ... read more

As I sat atop a stone age hill fort with two of my very close friends here in Lampeter, David, and Rae, the words that Dave said struck me. "I wonder how fast my time here will go by. I will be looking back at this moment three years from now as if it were today again. Time is odd like that." There is something about the hill fort, something about the way that the scenery makes you feel. It is almost as if time has stopped. You are neither in the present or the past but somewhere in between. Therefore all you are left to do is wonder about your future. I love Wales, it is so beautiful and it has so many hidden secrets tucked away in the hills. When I first arrived at ... read more

If I am to be completely honest with you, I will admit that before choosing to study in Southwest Wales I was only vaguely aware of the fact that Wales existed. I had always wanted to travel all over the world and especially to the UK; but to say that Wales was my original and ideal study-abroad location would be a lie. Now that I have lived here for even such a small amount of time after traveling the UK for about one month, I can honestly say that Southwest, Wales is the most beautiful location that I have ever lived at the heart of. I mean this both in the physical sense as well as in the spiritual sense as well. I have moved from place to place various times throughout my childhood, yet all ... read more

Hello all, This will be the start of my regular blog posts. I feel awful that I have not had the time to write, but to be honest, this is the first time that I have sat still in a very long time. Since I wrote last, I have traveled to London and then from the south of England to Southwestern Wales. I have visited Central London, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. I rode past the Globe theatre and stayed 4 nights in a local pub/youth hostel, wherein I learned that I could have fun and learn life lessons at the same time. I have traveled to Kent County to visit Henry VIII's castle of Leeds, Canterbury Cathedral, The White Cliffs of Dover, Warwick Castle. I have walked through the home that held the birth of ... read more
