I have been living at UEA for a week now and I am loving it. I have flatmates now and they are all really cool. Except for one girl who we never see. But you're bound to get one of those in every crowd. We all take turns cooking and we go out to the club and the movies together, it's a lot of fun. I have been to all my classes and they are all going to be really good. My professors seem to be good and the coursework isn't going to be too incredibly difficult. It is set up that all courses have lectures and seminars. The lectures are everyone taking the class in a big room with the prof. talking. The seminars are less than 20 students in a discussion based setting. This ... read more

Well it is official. I am at UEA and settled in quite nicely (and by nicely I mean I have internet in my room :). My room is wonderful (way better than BG). I don't have any flatmates yet. They'll move in either tomorrow or Sunday. The campus is pretty nice, it has its pretty spots and its ugly ones as well. My hall is nice and close to the center of campus, it's just about a 3 minute walk to the square. I am pretty much fully rested from my journey. I will start backlogging some of the places I visited and upload pictures in the next day or so. ... read more

Hey all, Like Future Radio i'm currently conducting a little test transmisison. My writing this should result in a complex series of electronic events ocurring, which i do not understand but will (hopefully) result in an email appearing in your inboxes (though we will see what spam filters have to say about that). I am not sure what this email will contain but it should direct you here. To what is going to become the online record of my life over the next 16 months. Most should know i am finally putting my sandals, backpack and mosquito repellent on and heading out into the big place we call the world. If you'd like to keep updated with my trials and tribulations, hear my random mutterings and mumblings, or just look at some pretty pictures then this ... read more

Today is a defining day, a milestone in my life. I have turned 65 and officially retired. I stopped working on 23rd June and took 4 weeks holiday. Now I would do what I liked most; travel round the world. In fact, I flew to Kenya on 26th June for two weeks safari. this was my third African visit, previous two were in 2000 and 2001 to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana. I will be writing about Kenya safari separately. This year, I want to visit Syria, Ethiopia, China and India. In 2008, I am planning a train trip from Gt. Yarmouth to Lasha in Tibet. Then by road to Kathmandu, Nepal and finally India by road. ... read more

Press Release issued by me With the growing interest in locally produced foodstuffs, do you know how the food on your plate is produced? There was an opportunity to find out at Shotford Hall Farm near Harleston on Sunday 10th June, which opened their farm as part of a national event ‘Open Farm Sunday’. Hosting such an event for the first time, Tim Lewis, Tenant Farmer, had no idea whether to expect 30 or 300 visitors, and in the event had over 500 coming through the gates. Clearly finding the day enjoyable, many visitors stayed for several hours, with much to see: machinery could be climbed on, animals (calves, cows, sheep, chickens, and a bull) could be seen, egg-production was explained, information about crops grown (wheat, barley, sugar beet, maize, vining peas, oil seed rape and ... read more

While I was down in Norfolk I manage to get a lift into Hunstanton in a very nice sports car. At first when I was offered a lift in a car I had bad memories of being in Darren’s car but once I saw the flashy Mazda MX5 I knew I was safe and I could get out anytime because unlike Darren’s 4x4, it didn’t have a roof on it. We headed towards Hunstanton and I really enjoyed the ride in the nice car. When I got into Hunstanton I decided I wanted to Take a look around but I didn’t know where to start and being such a little chap I couldn’t see much from the footpath so I had to climb up a sign post so I could see all around. As I ... read more

Well I’ve never been a fan of motorbikes because of the way they scream past the car when Darren and I are out driving, mind you milk floats scream past Darren when he’s behind the wheel. Never the less my first outing found me heading down to the Norfolk countryside and the Snetterton racing circuit for the British Superbikes event. When I got to the circuit I was very weary of all the bikes as they rolled into the parking area but I soon started to mingle with the bikers and started to realise they’re not a bad lot at all, apart from the one guy that wanted to use me to wipe the bugs of his windshield. I tagged onto a small bunch of guys who seemed to be having a good time and ... read more
