Bring plenty of British Pounds. So much to see and do in London, we'll have to come back! We had great fish & chips at St. Georges' Tavern near the Victoria train station. Saw Big Ben, London Eye-went for a ride, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Trafalger Square, Buckingham Palace, Changing of the Guard, The Royal Mews, St. Paul's Cathedral and the final flight of the Concorde just to name a few. We are visiting London and England again in April 2005.... read more

Yes, we were there (in London) 24th October 2003, when three British Airways Concordes, after 34 years of service ended a chapter in supersonic aviation history. It was quite a historic event when all around London, crowds of enthusiastic on-lookers cheered as the three Concordes, within minutes of each other, flew over London before making their final touchdown shortly after 4pm at Heathrow airport. We will never forget this truly special and historic visit to London.... read more

I have no idea what I wrote last night, I was delirious from lack of sleep! To finish off last night, I went back to my room to nap for an hour, then made my way to a pub for a quick bite. I looked for a traditional pub, but this area is so touristy, that it was tough. I finally found one about half a mile away. Had a chicken breast grilled with bacon and cheese, some clearly canned peas, and fries (chips) . . . a pint of Guiness and I was off to "Stones in His Pockets." It was a silly story, but the two actors we good. I tried to get tickets to "Mouse Trap" "A Mid Summer night's dream," or "Edmund" tonight, but they were all sold out. There aren't any ... read more

What an increadible day! I can brely keep my eyes open right now and am looking forward to a quick nap after this. After flying for almost 16 hours I arrived at the airport and to my suprise got on the right train to downtown London. I got off the train at Victoria Station and decided to walk to my hostel. I had no idea where I was, where I was going, what direction to travel, or how far it was, but I felt like walking, so fully loaded I set off. I passed bukingham Oalace then strolled through St. James's park, through Admiralty Arch. Went through something square (I don't have a map to refrence) passed the nationa galery and St. Martin in the fields church before reching Picadilly Circus. Wandered around for a bit ... read more

So Monday afternoon i was a girl on a mission... I wanted to see some Dali. So i headed down to where i thought the exhibit was, just to find out it cost £10. In front of the musuem, i was handed a postcard advertising the Saatchi collection, which happened to be right next door to Dali. So i went to the Saatchi instead.(quick summary about Saatchi, he collects known and unknown British art-- if Saatchi buys a piece of your work, you have good career prospects). The main exhibit was Damien Hurst, who's work can best be summarized as animal segements in formaldihyde. He had some brillant silk screens which took medicatin labels, and replaced the names of the medicines with fatty British foods. There were many innovative pieces, like paintings with embroidered sections, and ... read more

Yesterday morning brought shock and fear. Sarah has to wear a suit to work. AHHHH. Of course she looks good, but that is such "real" and formal attire. I took the bus and tube to work with Sarah, then the A to Z and i went off. I decided that i could walk to coventry gardens, and it was a pleasant walk down the Thames from Temple to Embankment then i headed up inland. I found a bus tour, so i could do the cheesy tourist thing. It came with a free walking tour to see changing of the guard. the timing was right so i walked to the meeting point infront of the national gallery. Along the way i found a nice lost aussie looking for the meeting point as well, and we spent the ... read more

Greetings from sunny London (i'm serious the weather is awesome) Here i am, sitting a whole ocean away from Saratoga, with Sarah. Everything about London is awesome except for how much things cost. NYC looks cheap compared to here. Yesterday we went to markets: Portabello Road (which is right out Sarah's front door), Camden Town, and Covent Garden. At Portabello Road i got this great book to make a Feingold style scrap book, which is a good idea, since i never got around to finishing my NZ book. We also got fresh bread and yummy hummus. Mmmmm. Camden Town is totally fun. It is what the East Villiage wishes it still was. Lots of punks, ravers, 80's style mohawks, goths, and lots of other neat little shops as well. I could live there. The highlight may ... read more
