At the moment I'm alternating between being desperate to come home and enjoying myself. I'm getting over London fairly quickly and am looking forward to leaving on Thursday or Friday. I've seen almost everything - I just have Covent Garden, Bloomsbury, London Bridge and Tower of London to go. I also have to have a meeting with the people who will set up my bank account for me. Thankfully I've got an address in Kent that I can have things sent to, because I might have left London before the bank account details are ready. I'm really looking forward to catching up with Hazel, as I haven't seen a familiar face for what seems like ages. Anyway, enough about that. Today I went to the Victoria and Albert Museum, stuck my head in the Science Museum, ... read more

Wow! What a crazy few days I have had. I can't believe I only left home 5 days ago. It feels like forever. I am really missing you all, but now that I have net access I feel a little better. So here's a rundown on my first few days: Japan was an eye-opener and my sixteen hour stopover was an adventure in itself. I had a major crisis 6 hours into the flight when I realised that I didn't know any of the details of my hotel for the stopover. I had no idea where I was supposed to go and no idea of even the name of the hotel I was supposed to be staying in. Thankfully, when I mentioned this to the lovely Japanese man at customs, he told me the name of ... read more

Today I arrived in foggy London town. I am so excited to start exploring. Our flat is huge, granted there are eight of us!! I was warned that we would have no space to put anything so it was a pleasant surprise to have a dresser and a closet. Although we were all extremely jet-lagged we went for a mini adventure on the high street. We discovered a small pub with loads of character around the corner. It is called the Westbury. I have a feeling we will hang out here a lot as there are pool tables, live bands and its a great atmosphere.... read more

After travelling 35,066km, to 55 cities, across 17 countries, in 129 days - to say that this has been an incredible journey and an amazing experience would obviously be an understatement. Once I had arrived at my cousin's place in London NW6, I have to admit that relief was the overwhelming emotion, as perhaps rather unsurprisingly, I was all travelled out. In saying that though, with the English weather and winter upon us, I'm sure it won't be long before my feet get itchy again. Reflecting on the last 4 1/2 months, I feel that a review and a re-cap of the trip is appropriate, given that it was the best experience of my life. However, rather than merely bore everybody with yet more prose (and there has certainly been plenty of that) I thought that ... read more

Off we headed for a big English breakfast at the local Kilburn French Cafe. I was recommended the Breakfast Platter by Steve who said 'That's what I always get', Jase concurred. I promptly took their advice but was suprised that on the delivery of said food, I was the only one who had ordered it. Afterwards we got on the tube and headed out to the London Eye, which is for the uninitiated is a really big Ferris Wheel. Here are our favourite pics of the morning.... read more

Well we arrived in London on Tuesday afternoon & everyone was asking 'oh you poor things how was your flight?' My reply was 'not so bad, because WE GOT UPGRADED TO BUSINESS CLASS - WOOHOO!!!'. Oh my god I really should be rich because that is the only way to fly, not only did we get the skybeds & the 3 course meals, they were also serving Billecart Salmon champagne, my favourite champagne in the whole world!! So you can imagine Fleury (mua') got her moneys worth of champagne - hehe! Anyways enough skyting (had to just a little bit..), we had a great day yesterday with my gorgeous cousin Simon who I haven't seen in almost 3 years since I moved to Sydney & he moved to London. We were born a day apart so ... read more

Today I woke up to snow outside my window, got up at 6.30 to play in it for a bit, then off to bed again. Its raining slightly now, but this has been the first day of it, so have been pretty lucky. Well I should tell you what I've got planned for myself for the next joint of the journey. I was going to stay in London and find work, but I really wanted to settle in a place that was totally different. London is great but there is just constant people around you, and its such an antipodean city that most accents you hear around you are from other countries. I've seen all the touristy things I wanted to do and have decided to journey up to Scotland. 90% sure i want to go ... read more

Well here goes, its Xmas day and its one sleep before i set off on my journey.. Steve is already on his way, probably nearing Washing DC as i type this up. We had a great Christmas meal yesterday on the Eve of Christmas so Steve could set off this morning at some ungodly hour. Dad and i got up at 7 to take him to the airport - the roads were empty which made a real improvement and we were there and back alot quicker than expected and settling down to a cup of tea and presents (mum, dad and i) while Steve was knocking her first beer back in the pub!! Anyway, the present giving was great, but then came the tearful goodbyes as Mum and Dad prepared to leave for Rayleigh. Its going ... read more
