An email to friends or a personal diary of my journey; emotionally and literally. I am quite sure it's both. So now its 6 weeks prior to the day I am planned to leave. Marv and I are officially broken up. I have officially resigned from work. My house is nearly sold and all I have is a tentative plan to meet Johnny in Buenos Aires on the 1st October. Beyond that I have no idea. My plan is to buy a lonely planet guide tomorrow, make a list of places to visit and then see if the wind blows me there. Onwards and Upwards ... read more

I was lucky to have two London flights back to back so again arranged to meet up with my friend Janie. I made my way to St Pauls to meet her for lunch. We found ourselves a nice little restaurant where we sat outside and had a really nice lunch. She had to get back to work so I decided I would go to the National British Museum. The one thing I love about London is there is always something to do. It doesn’t matter how many times you go there, you can always find something. London boasts several museums and most of them are free to enter. Made my way to the station and stopped in at a little coffee shop and sat outside in the sun. Entered the museum and unfortunately I had just ... read more

It was good to have a quiet night, and I continued marking exams when I got up. I rang Baz before it was time to head into London with Kez and Rod. From Canada Water we caught the tube to Fulham Broadway where we are meeting everyone. We were starving so we ducked into TGI Friday's for lunch. We tried Brasil beer with our lunch which was a bit ironic, but it was just ok. Kate, Julia (Jules) and Casey joined us, and when we finished eating we headed for the Pitcher & Piano. We went the wrong way at first, but there were lots of Aussies and Brasilians on the street, and we were sent the right way soon enough. There was pubs everywhere with Aussie/Brasil flags out the front, but the Pitcher & Piano ... read more

Well I’m back in London after my eight days in Ireland and it’s impossible to ignore the excitement of the fifth and final ashes test which has just ended in a draw and a series win to England. There appears to be nothing more annoying than a gloating English supporter and I’m going to lay low this evening. Ireland was great fun, however on reflection I should have spent a few more days there and headed up to Dublin or across to Cork for a night or two for something a little different than the west coast which is a little too quiet for my liking. I’m back in Fulham and staying at Dom and Amanda’s place again for the next week. I have so much to do this week, there are so many more things ... read more

Ahh, the land of greasy fried things, stuffy men in suits and rain! I got in at... some... time... or other... didn't really have a grasp on that sort of thing after probably 24 hours of solid travel. I definitely found it hard to beleive that I managed to leave Ko Tao one morning and be flung halfway across the world to England by the next afternoon! Surprisingly, though I don't have any jet lag today! Red met me at the airport and we come back to Fulham, got a bite to eat and a few beers (oh god! GOOD English Ale! REAL BEER! REEEEALLLL BEEEERRRRR!!!! GHAAGHGHGAHGHHHHH!!! :) and before I knew it it was 11pm and the world was starting to float around me in a strange, semi consciouss way - as a result of ... read more

So I guess after Germany, a huge house party a week later, another full on weekend in Madrid a quiet weekend is in order.........well not quite. The Madrid weekend was followed up by the Gatecrasher Summer Sound System Festival in Northhampton (about 3 hrs Nth of London).......we managed to get a group of around 25 together and headed to an all nite rave........great fun, but totally exhausted afterwards........no photo's though (am sorry about that), but it really wasn't a visual thing. Just when you thought the month couldn't get any bigger, we we ended it with a going away party for friends of our heading away on a van tour or Europe (lucky sods). Brad, Gendy, Aeneas and Frith departed England's cloudy shores in early July, but that wasn't before we gave them a huge send ... read more

I think I'm up to Update Number 4 or 5 which is not too bad considering I've been away about 4 months. Time has flown as it does when u r having a ball. The subject of this update is the inaugural Australia v New Zealand cricket game A couple of weeks ago (18 May 02) two groups of 11 players played out an all mighty battle for cricket supremacy at the Fulham Park Cricket Ground (in London's SW). The game was aimed at righting a wrong perpetrated on International cricket many years ago, and whilst Brain Mechechnie and Trevor Chappel were invited to attend it was left to a motley bunch of proud Aussies and Kiwi's to attempt to salvage some pride. For the Aussies it was a case of having heard those whinging Kiwi's ... read more
