Snow, snow and more snow!! We enjoyed the beautiful thick whiteness covering the roads and pavements for a couple of days this week. Sunday night it bucketed down snow! It was oh so pretty! Monday morning at 1am, the snow was so thick and fluffy. My flatemates and I decided it was time for a snowball fight. Chantelle and I didn't last too long, however Luis and Nicolas spent about 2hours running a muck and snowballing neighbours and our bedroom windows! Monday I stayed in bed as schools were closed due to the coverage and the disturbance to the public transport system. It was nice to be snug as a bug in a rug... though when schools were closed on Tuesday I began to worry. Days off are fun until it's pay day :( It was ... read more

I know, I'm sorry I am incredibly slack!! My first few weeks here were quite hard because I was watching my money supplies dwindle, the news announcing night after night that another company has gone bankrupt and made thousands of people jobless and competing with everyone else for any kind of work. Typical, I arrive and the country decides to go into a recession!! But it hasn't been all bad, I found a place to stay very easily with a mate and everyone has looked after me here. My first weekend here my housemate took me to Church . . . not that type of church. This is a pub that is only open for about 4 hours a week, you can only by drinks in lots of 3 and you get them in a little ... read more

The heading of this page hightlights a couple of the first things I head when I arrived in London. I jumped on the tube from Heathrow Airport to meet Louise and Alex in Hammersmith. The female voice over on the tube said... "This is a Piccadilly line train stopping all stations to Cockfosters..." being human, I giggled to myself. What a funny name for a suburb! Gold!! Then at every station "Please mind the gap..." Now it's just a part of daily life, though I must admit I still tend to giggle to myself when I catch the Piccadilly Line :) One of my first nights out in London was in east London (can't remember exactly where) in a warehouse to celebrate Halloween. My friend Jo, a super fun/crazy gal I went to uni with, and ... read more

Hello there We have been in London for just over two months now so in that time we have developed some opinions on the place. Firstly, the UK and particularly London seems like quite a violent place. Vancouver had a lot of violence but most of it was gang related and didn't usually involve random attacks on the general public. Over here there it seems like most of the stories you hear about involve quite disturbing random acts of appalling violence against innocent people, a lot of it involving young people (there have been a few fights on Tubes that I have been in, one involving a couple of school boys probably 11 or 12 years old on there way to school). There is of course the gang related violence as well. I read one of ... read more

Well hello there, and welcome, to another installment of the misadventure of moi! To everyone who has sent me messages, thanks and i am thinking of you all - sorry if i haven't gotten back to everyone. So, where do i begin? I have been writing little lists to remind me of thing so hopefully i don't miss anything out. Over the past week I have spent most of my time blowing my nose. The cold I have been cultivating over the past couple of months seems to have developed into a sinus infection or something now that I have stopped running about like a crazy person. But, hopefully I am on the mend. I seem to have adjusted to the time difference quite well, slipping straight into 8 hours a night and no napping or ... read more

It has been the most unbelievable start to the year - nothing like normal life or living! Christmas Roma style in London was a blast! There was so much food, Wii competitions, and we have never seen so many presents in all our days. But it was honestly just so much fun. We spent Christmas day at Mark's cousins, Tony and Lisa's house and they put on the full Roast with all the trimmings. And it actually felt like a proper Christmas. Now don't get me wrong, Christmas at home is great, but with the cold weather outside and the ice on the cars, it felt like we were experiencing the real thing. There was no snow and it rained most of the day, but it's true that after a couple of hours there was a ... read more

It was very unfortunate that we had to leave you all with such bad news, but for those of you who haven't heard, Kate made it home in time to say goodbye to her Grandma and she was able to be at home and celebrate her Grandma's life with her family. She was also able to catch up with some good friends and rekindle her Adelaide spirit! While she was away Mark went and watched the Australian Football team play in Fulham - yep nice and close to home. You can imagine that Mark had a slightly croaky voice the next day from all the Harry Kewell chanting! But since we're now well and truly into winter we have been enjoying strolling the frosty streets, looking at all the wonderful Christmas lights and decorations that have ... read more

Well September certainly has been a month to remember! I'm not sure whether it was because we were away from home, or because we are newly married, or just a series of amazing coincidences, or just because... but I was spoilt rotten for my Birthday! When we were camping (as we mentioned in our last blog), Lisa organised a Birthday cake for me, and in the fresh air of the countryside I got to blow out my first overseas birthday candles. A very sweet gesture! So we arrived home on the Sunday, it was work as usual on the Monday and Tuesday it was my day, so we had organised to take the day off work! After phonecalls home we went to meet Tania and Miles who had arrived in London the day before. I was ... read more

The plane trip was long, very, very long, but thai airways are fantastic i got 2 full meals each section of the flight, good food! first dinner i chose red lamb curry and i got 2 salads i also got fresh fruit later & they give you little hot towels to refresh yourself with as well so it was pretty good. I arrived at 7am yesterday (friday) but it took me 2 hours to get through the passport screening - an american flight landed at the same time as mine. Poor stu was worried because it usually doesn't take that long and he rang nige to see that i got on the plane okay. Thanks Stu!!!! I eventually called him & caught the tube & met up with him, we went back to his place which ... read more
