Met Katie in lovely Acton Town, the sun was shining and there was nothing to do but put on some shorts and thongs and have a lovely Guinness!!! Can't seem to get enough of that stuff. Actually i did do some stuff i had a heap washing to to so i used the washing ,achine at Katies and then went up the street to use the dryer. After this we sat a round for a little and then made our way to a favourite haunt of Katies, the Mill Hill. 2 for 1 meals so was looking forward to a nice hot meal. Well on arrival we met some of Katies friends there and decided on what we were going to order. Now for anyone who has been to the Cohuna pub, or any country pub ... read more

9/4/09 So I had an interview at the Swan yesterday. It’s a cute little pub across the rd which boasts the largest pub garden in London. They’re a pretty multicultural bunch. Polish, Irish, Aussie. The Adelaide chick is leaving so she wants to replace her with another Aussie. It seems like a really close-knit and friendly team. Two problems. First, she thought that I may have had hospitality experience that I hadn’t put on my resume. I don’t know why anyone would not put relevant experience onto a cv they’d handed in. She was happy enough with me that she said she’d give me a go. The other thing was that she warned me the pay was really bad. It’s 5.60 which is not enough to survive on, let alone go travelling on. Plus she’s emphasised ... read more

6/4/09 I’ve finally found it!!! The perfect job! It’s a receptionist position (very little in the way of life/death responsibility), at a book publishing firm. So they need someone with “a bubbly personality” who’s a “bookworm”. Hello!!!! Right here!! There’s a couple of good things about job hunting. First, you come across the craziest job descriptions. Eg Trampoline trainer. And also it gives you the same feeling you get when you’re flirting with a guy (and you’re single). You know? The possibilities that waft into your head. So now I just have to convince them to hire me. I’ve done my best applying, now got to do my best waiting. xox ... read more

Wow, 3 months sure is a long time between blogs. So long in fact that since the last post we made we have quit our London jobs, moved out of our London flat and temporarily left the UK on a tour around the northeastern US and Canada. But before we start the series of blogs covering our US trip, there are a few more UK stories to update you on first. Anna’s parents were over for a visit to London in September and Anna had kindly invited us out to a meal with them at one of Gordon Ramsey’s London restaurants. I bet you’re all thinking ‘how the hell can you afford that?’ Well for 90% of his restaurants we wouldn’t be able to afford it, and probably couldn’t get a booking even if we could. ... read more

Dear Sara Foster- It is day three and I am already regretting booking hostles for pretty much our ENTIRE trip.. So, everything has been fine for the most part- i was sitting by myself on the plane, our hostle is alright (clean and not terribly located, with internet and free breakfast! ), we've been agreeing on where to go/what to see for the most part... and then yesterday, we went to the Eric Clapton concert (which was AMAZING, but the way, except that Lindsey was complaining the ENTIRE time about her allergies and how she couldn't wait for it to be over so that she could come back to the hostle and take some claritin.. and since i was the one who actually WANTED to go to the concert, she maybe should have known she wasn't ... read more

Hello again. Time for some more pictures and words. This edition of our blog features details of our visits to London's 4 big sporting grounds. Firstly, we went to Lords to watch the 4th day of the 1st cricket test between NZ and England. I remember sitting up late one night by myself back in our flat in Dunedin during the last test match NZ played at Lords during the 2004 tour, and thinking 'Wow, what an amazing ground. I can't wait to go to London to watch some cricket. And how cool would it be if it was a NZ game?' Well my wish came true and it was a dream to watch the Black Caps do battle with the Pomms at the home of cricket. I’m sure most you would have heard/seen the results ... read more

Greetings I can't really be bothered writing much this time round (I can hear you all gasp a collective sigh of relief) but the photos have starting piling up so we thought we'd better post some of them and I guess I should try and give them some context. A while back we went to the Imperial War Museum. There is no shortage of museums in London and this is reputedly one of the best of them. We spent a couple of hours in there one Sunday afternoon and only saw around half of it. Everything was so interesting and of course with Britain being one of the main players in both WWI and WWII there was no shortage of material. With London being the centre of everything in England, all sorts of tv shows are ... read more

Then last weekend a lad fro work came in and mentioned that he was in Brighton for the weekend and seen people riding around the city nude for some bike thing. After all the turmoil of getting to London we finally arrived at Lachlan’s place in East Action about 15mins outside London via the tube. We arrived to a house FULL of friendly people, Tanya and Ryan from NZ, Tessa and Elyse from Melb. They are all living in a tiny share house, and with the arrival of the three of us it was quite cramped. They didn't seem to mind though, I have a feeling it's quite common to have people coming and going all the time. We arrived into London airport at around 5pm Thursday 15/5/08... By 8 we were showered changed and at the pub. Lach took us to a backpackers pub called Belushi's we met some more of Lachs friends, surprise surprise they were all aussie's and kiwis! They introduced us to the ... read more
