Well now day 3 at Barnard Castle and still love the place, if I am honest - but really would I return for another break, probably not and that is not due to anything wrong with the place as it is lovely but now getting itchy pants so have to move on. We walked along the Teesdale walk and then decided as it was getting muddy that we would turn around and go into Barnard Castle - think I am getting a bit of a princess and YES everyone who knows me, I am a princess with a bloody big TIARA, ha ha. So after walking around the town again Mike is getting really annoyed with me as the older I get the more ants in the pants I get and can I sit still, NOOOOOO. ... read more

So we decided as it was so nice for the next couple of days we would take the motorhome out for a few days. It's great to just jump in it and go anywhere you fancy. We have seen so much of this country which if honest would not have happened if we had not had lockdown and not been allowed to leave the UK. Now we need to give the motorhome a name I have decided, so any thoughts on a name drop me a line. We are up early and as we have already used the motorhome this year it is really quick to get on the road. So we set off to a site called Teesdale Barnard Castle. Now the jokes start, yes we are going to look for Spec Savers whilst at ... read more

Well day 2 and it is still glorious weather. Mike had a shower in the motorhome this morning, the first time the shower has been used. Probably because I was brought up camping in a tent and we always had to use the shower and toilet blocks on the campsites, I just automatically go to the shower block. We even wash up now in the motorhome sink instead of going to the pot washing block, another thing we used to have to do as kids - think I am really getting into the motorhome life ha ha. So today we are going to walk to who knows where but possibly the opposite way from Barnard Castle town centre I think - will keep you posted. This part of the world is really pretty. Hey ho a ... read more

They say, if you fall off a horse, it is best to get straight back on. Is it for our benefit to overcome our natural fear or is to show the horse, we are in charge? I currently feel like I have fallen of the mythical travelblog horse. It has been nearly 5 months now and I haven't so much as written a single word, except in an employment setting or taken the camera out of the case. COVID 19 has meant it hasn't been possible to journey far for quite a significant period and even if you did, there wasn't a great deal to do at any destination. There was certainly no football to watch and anybody who has read any of my previous blogs will realise that has a significant impact on my life. ... read more

After being fed and watered and had our fill of painting, porcelain and museum items we set off for the market town itself . Set in Teesdale the town is named after its castle . The countryside is very pretty in this part of the world with green fields hemmed in by stone walling. The hedgerows were full of pretty tea size plates of white Hogweed and the rambling white briar roses. The fields full of rusty coloured sheep and golden with the ripening corn. Gardens are colourful as the summer bedding comes into its own and long borders are full with vibrantly coloured perenials Our first job find a carpark . Easier said than done. We were so glad that we were not in Suzy . At least parking a car should be easier or ... read more

Can you remember back to a programme called "That was the week that was" . It was a satirical television programme on the BBC broadcast in 1962 and 1963. It was devised, produced and directed by Ned Sherrin whom I cannot remember and presented by David Frost who become very famous indeed on British TV. The programme was a new concept to Britain as it was considered satire and lampooned the establishment and political figures who became targets for derision. Well the last couple of weeks have felt like that. Normally I would love to be out of the country during electioneering as it goes on too long for me as I am forced to listen to endless arguements being bandied about and being batted to and forth like a ping pong ball. Sadly Suzy has ... read more
