Aus jenem kommt ... read more

So this past week has been half term break so we havent had the chance to work. FINALLY my criminal reference checks have arrived. Just because its me, the first one I originally requested months ago showed up yesterday in Canada and the second recent one my agency requested showed up here today. Somewhere, someone is having a laugh at me. Is saying 'having a laugh' British? So I hope HOPE! that I will work this week. Colin and I have signed up with a second agency to have a better gaurantee that we will work often. So I will let you know how that goes over the next couple weeks. On Monday with celebrated the 5th year of our courtship together. : - ) (Remember I am reading about the Tudor era so using words ... read more

Hey Everybody! I did upload a bunch of pictures a while ago...on the 19th. But the pictures and comments added got all mixed up and the internet was going so slow that I had to walk away and now I am come back, a week or so later to fix it. Last week Colin worked most of the time and I tried to keep busy reading and wondering about town. I took a bunch of pictures as you can see. When you go into the main part of town there is the market and then King's Parade which runs along the river. There you can find the Cambridge College's like the most famous King's College. The Chapel is beautiful and big and there are a couple pictures of it there. We haven't gone on any tours ... read more

Ello There Mates! So this past week I've been forced to do things like read books and drink lattes while Colin goes to work. The paperwork we were waiting for arrived for him but not for me. So he spent the last couple days in Nursery School because they did not have any Primary classes available. I don't think it was terribly awful but he may say differently. He became close friends with one little boy one day and I think it may have reminded him of home because his name was Tobey... for anyone that doesn't know, Tobey is my little dog that Colin is quite fond of, no offense Harley. So while Colin was off playing with little kiddies, I had to find things to fill my days....on a budget. So I went to ... read more

So yesterday we had a leisurely day wandering around the parts of Cambridge that we had not yet gotten to see. We made our way to the Cambridge River, I think its also called the River Cam. It's so beautiful there, see pictures. We had Cornwell pastries yesterday and they were really yummy. Also see us enjoying them in a picture. We've been help up working because our UK criminal record checks went MIA in the mail. So Colin's has showed up at his house Friday and hopefully mine will be there Tuesday and we can both get started working this week. We were both a bit homesick wishing we were at the cottage with our families for Thanksgiving. Being in a different continent definately reassures what we already knew...we are both very lucky people with ... read more

So it has been awhile since we have been stationed somewhere with internet long enough to sit down and put something on the blog. There is a lot that has happened in the last week. Last Thursday we went to Bedford (45 train ride from Cambridge) to see Blue Rodeo. It was awesome! I didn’t know what to expect, thought it would be small but I didn’t realize just how good it would be. We sat at a table right in front of the stage. We met two couples from England who sat at our table. One had just gotten back from the third or fourth trip to Canada and fell in love with Blue Rodeo while there. So it was a lot of fun to chat with them about their trips etc before the show ... read more

So I see that many think my sausages and mash don't look appealing, but I assure you, they were delicious(and did I mention the size of that Yorkshire pudding ...)...I don't know how to post pictures normally yet...so enjoy til I figure it out. We have had a busy day....opened a bank account, met with our agency for teaching and went to view a house. Finding a house is proving to be a challenge...but whats life without a few good challenges! That is so much easier to say after a few pints... But really, we are staying postitive that we will find something soon. The food here is soo great. We found an Italian....like real Italian... deli and had a delicious sandwich for lunch. They were like "Doa Youa Wanta Fresha Crackeda Blacka Peppera?" Colin is ... read more

So we are sitting here in our hostel on technically our first night here. We just woke up from a 3 hour sleep that we thought was all night but it was only 9 o'clock! So here we are now sipping guinness and adjusting to the new time zone. We had a nice family send off dinner at Swiss Chalet before heading to the airport for our 10pm flight. It was 6.5 hours long but wasn't tooooo bad... There was some onflight excitment as a lady fainted and doctors and nurses flying on the plane were called to help. It was cramped and smelt funny but we made it! We landed and made all our preplanned travel times that got us to Cambridge at 1pm. The underground was hectic, especially with our 10 bags and suitcases ... read more
