So it has been awhile since we have been stationed somewhere with internet long enough to sit down and put something on the blog. There is a lot that has happened in the last week.

Last Thursday we went to Bedford (45 train ride from Cambridge) to see Blue Rodeo. It was awesome! I didn’t know what to expect, thought it would be small but I didn’t realize just how good it would be. We sat at a table right in front of the stage. We met two couples from England who sat at our table. One had just gotten back from the third or fourth trip to Canada and fell in love with Blue Rodeo while there. So it was a lot of fun to chat with them about their trips etc before the show started.

They played all the great songs and we were dancing and singing and it would have been a great night if it ended there but it had to get even better. Jim Cuddy and the band came out after and we met them and got their autographs and then if the night ended there it would have been super great but it

had to even get more great. I told Jim Cuddy that I couldn’t get tickets to the show in London so that’s how we ended up in Bedford and he said “Don’t worry about it, I’ll put you on the guest list.” It was really awesome!

Then the next day we went to London to stay with Kyle (a friend of Colin’s since they were teeny weeny). We helped him move some stuff from one apartment to the next and got a crash course in getting around on the London tube. Which on a weekend, is terrible because random closures pop up all over the place and then you need to recalculate your map. We went out for dinner that night and we had a lot of fun with Kyle and his lovely British girlfriend, Katrin.

We found the perfect place to stay. We are renting a room in a family house. The gentleman renting to us is a vet and he has two houses attached to each other and one is the vet office on the bottom and his apartment on top. Then the other has our room and others for potential renters on top and the shared kitchen and dining area on the bottom. He has five children and three we have met are very nice and funny. We were invited to join a family dinner which was so nice. And it was games night so we got to join some board game action, which made me very excited! You all know where I will be on Tuesday nights from now on. He also has a cat named Katy and she is 18 and deaf and I am in love with her. She is so cute.

Then yesterday we went to see my friend Stevie and her friends in Norwich for a little gig as she called it. It was like an open mic night and one of her friends sang and played guitar and it was really great. Today we toured around Norwich and saw a huge cathedral inside and out as well as a castle that is over 900 years old. It was really enjoyable and relaxing to wander through these buildings with so much history. Thanks to recent television venture like The Tudors and The Pillars of the Earth, my imagination runs wild the entire time I am in these kinds of

places. It’s fantastic! (Occasionally Harry Potter finds his way into these imaginings but I try to limit his appearances.)

I also bought a camera today! A good deal too and now I will start to document everything with pictures. I'll have to go back to Norwich to get some photos of the castle and cathedral.

Hello!
Hi Jen and Colin: Loved you recent photos. Sounds like you have fit quite a bit into the short amount of time you have been in England. If you are out and about keep your ear to the ground for Richard Anderson, he is my cousin and is playing clubs in and around the London area. I think his style is much like James Taylor but he writes all his own music! Looking forward to seeing more pictures. Get yourselves to Windsor Castle it is really nice Warwick castle as well. Cheers and best regards, Aunt Sandie
