Well I suppose I better introduce myself properly. My name is Jason or Jay as most of my friends would call me, a mature student that decided to take another go at education and really see, if by some small chance I may be able to make a difference in this life. Sick of just working to please somebody else and watching everyone else reap the benefits of my hard labour it was time for change. The long awaited holiday has arrived. Working through the summer while other people go on annual leave has been pretty tortuous but now its my turn to have a break. Three weeks in Armenia should do the trick. Everything is packed, the cat is fed and finance report sent to rowing Club secretary. So now I've got a bit of time to have a coffee and start the blog before setting off to get the coach to Heathrow.... read more

ENGLAND-WALES-ENGLAND... The guy organising our breakfast at the Hotel in Chester was French, I was wearing my black NZ Football shirt – he was very keen to talk to me about the World Cup (especially the last one!). Generally the RWC isn’t featuring over here although now the final squads have been announced it might get some more press. Not surprisingly England cricket has captured the limelight at the moment, although nothing compares to coverage of football –it’s great! Today we left Chester and headed back into Wales, our first stop was the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The Aqueduct is an amazing feat of engineering especially when you consider it was completed in 1805 – it is the longest and highest Aqueduct in Britain and carries the Llangollen Canal over the Valley of the river Dee.
