well maybe not, but pretty high up in the mountains in switzerland. I feel like i've died and gone to Yosemite. As i step outside, there's this huge mountain in front of me. So large it looks fake. The air is clean, the water is pure, and scene is relaxing. I also went to Geneva and Zurich. Nice places but really expensive. Switzerland to me is the Simi Valley of Europe. Safe, clean, but there aint s*** to do. I forgot last time to mention how the Running of the Bulls was. Or maybe how i like to call it, Jogging of the Bulls, because it seemed thats all they were doing until they got to the collisseum. I heard some stories of guys getting trampled, one of em told me about it in Ibiza, crazy. ... read more

Last weekend Laura and I went to Geneva to see my other friend Laura. I loved it, but I've always loved Switzerland! The 4 1/2 hour train ride up there was beautiful, and once we got near the border it was very serene. I wasn't aware that Lake Geneva was SOO big, but the atmosphere there reminded me a lot of downtown San Diego. Because the lake is so big, it is kind of like the center of the city, and there is the waterside, with cute little cafes and boats etc. The weather was gorgeous, and a nice change from Milan in that there wasn't much humidity and there was a breeze. Plus I always love having water nearby (makes me think I'm at home). :) So we met up with the other Laura and ... read more

Pictures are forthcoming of one of the most beautiful places in the world. Interlaken, Switzerland surrounds you in mountains like no other place Ive seen before. Me and Jen spent 3 days at a hostel named Funny Farm where we relaxed at night by the bar meeting people. We river rafted down the river that extends from the glaciers down through the valley, and eventually winding up in one of the lakes next to Interlaken. The views were awesome. The next day we bought a camera and rented scooters and drove up the valley to Stechelberg where we took a gondola to Gimmelwald, a small mountain village where goats outnumber people. Leaving Interlaken we headed to Geneva the next day. We lucked out finding a hostel that wasnt full booked and walked around the city. Genevas ... read more

Hello all! I'm still here in Interlaken (I leave tomorrow). Rafting was a blast. The water was a nice refreshing 6 degrees celcius. I never imagined that Switzerland could get so hot. It's incredible! Yesterday, I went hiking with a couple of girls (One of which I met in Zurich and she just happened to be in my tent here). We climbed Harder Kulm, 1322m, 4337ft. It took us around 5 hours round trip. Then, we got a big group of people together and we all cooked tacos. I really miss Mexican food (and hot showers, soft toliet paper and country music) Oh and I ran into some guys that I met at Kunta Hora about a week ago. It's a small world! Today, I am going to find a nice spot on the lake to ... read more

Back to Geneva on an 8:30 flight. It was a beautiful day, and because I was so very exhausted from my adventures, I decided to hit the Lake Geneva beach up. It is not much, basically just a 200m long concrete slab jutting into the lake close to where the Rhone river leaves (there are nicer beaches that this, but this one is right downtown and is very close). There are a couple ‘beach’ areas which are pretty rocky, but most people just tend to sunbath. The place was absolutely jammed. The European style of beachwear is so different that Canada, and although I’ve seen it before, I feel like it is worth reiterating. First, the women. One piece bathing suits do not exist here in Europe. Everybody wears bikinis, whether young or old, trim or ... read more

Hello all, Wood here with my first "blog" entry. Well Barcelona was great, we had a great 2 days with Chester and Ryan. Then we decided to go to Mallorca Island of the Balearics. We stayed the first night at Palma beach. The Monday was spent travelling basically. We got a great deal on the ferry with a 20 euro return fare. On Tuesday we headed to Cala D'Or (look it up on the net, its beautiful) on the East Coast where we stayed in our own apartment suite with a pool for dirt cheap. We stayed 3 days. One day we went on a bus to a less populated beach (full of old nude people with a shanty bar and straw umbrellas). The water was awesome. Ive never seen anything like it. Warm and crystal ... read more

So, I left Zurich and went to Basel Art. It was absolutley fantastic. It was all art like what I make...with programming and stuff. After that, I went to Bern to meet Charles. But, he never showed up. We had arranged a backup meeting place for the next morning...but he never showed up there. I got an email from him saying that he had decided to go on to Interlaken. So, off I went to Interlaken. He never made our meet up this time either. I got another email from him saying that he's in Milan now. But, I'm tired of chasing him and I love this place so much that I have decided to give up. I'm staying here 3 more nights and then going to Venice to meet Erin. I'm going white water rafting ... read more

One of the benefits of doing Busabout is flexibility. Case in point is my decision while filling out the check-in form at Camping Jungfrau, I decided to stay only the mandatory 1 night. Part of the reason is that the area is expensive - very expensive. Another is that if I stay the 3 nights (2 full days), I'm going to want to do things. A trip up to the mountains (even taking the alternate route, and not to popular and €140 Jungfrau peak) alone would have been expensive. Then, with Interlaken so close, I'd probably be tempted to go canyoning, paragliding, etc. I figured that by the time I was done there, I'd be out 3-400SFR (which is almost on par with the Canadian dollar). For this trip at least, I made the call ... read more

Bonjour all. Yes...despite all of the rumors you may have heard...I am still alive. I know it has been awhile since I have last wrote a blog, but I have been busy enjoying the finer things of Europe : ) I have been having an incredible journey. There is so much to tell. I was in Germany with the Binder's from the 2nd until the 11th, then to Interlaken, Switzerland and the Alps the night of the 11th and during the day of the 12th, and now I am in Geneva with the Getty's, which I came here last night and am staying until either tomorrow morning or the morning of the 15th. With much to tell, I will only share part of my time in Germany in this blog and then tell the rest in ... read more
