Merry Christmas to everyone, We arrived in Stockholm on Saturday afternoon (24 Dec) and are staying in a recently refurbished hostel - quite nice! Set up our small Christmas decorations bought ín Finland and set out on a sightseeing tour of Stockholm, then travelled around by T-bana (underground suburban train). Many of the T-bana stations are decorated as modern works of art quite often around a theme. Caitlin was excited to see one station all decked out in the colours of the Italian flag (red, green, & white) with many Italian style statues and carvings on display. We were a bit disappointed to find that many of the attractions in Stockholm were closed from 24 - 25 December as these are Public Holidays for Christmas here. Whew, 7 days left to leave Nantes, 8 days till Chicago. But first, quick recap on Sweden. I'm sure you're all excited to hear how beautiful it was, about everything I saw, how the sun hit the waters . . . and of course I'd tell you, if only there were more than 5 hours of sunlight per day. It's the kind of thing that everyone jokes about, and I don't think anyone really takes it seriously. Oh no. It's serious. The sun sets at 3:30 in the afternoon. That being said, I spent most of my time there in darkness. It really throws off one's internal clock. I really can't tell you what I saw because, honestly, I didn't see much. Hi everyone, apologies for the delay since my last entry but my free time tends to come in bursts and, as I'm sure you've noticed, so have my blogs. I have since finished my travels and have arrived home in Australia, so will now be publishing the final few entries of what has been an absolutely fantastic 14 months abroad. I must warn you that this one is quite boring. My time in Sweden was relatively uneventful. However, I feel that it would be remiss of me to omitt documentation of my time there. I arrived after an extremely long flight from LA to London and then a connection to Stockholm, Sweden.
