After visiting old Muslim-turned-Christian neighborhoods in Granada, we had lunch in the sun at a plaza and are headed back for a serious siesta! What a relaxing day. I hope to have new pictures up by early next week. Also, we found a Protestant church that we´re going to try on Sunday where they have Spanish services, but once a month they have English ones so we´ll see how they all go! Below is my address here in Spain. Because of customs, insurance, etc. packages aren´t very fast, but if they are sent, a couple things must happen: -Use World Wide Express from the US Postal Service -On the customs sheet, tell them it´s something plain, like peanut butter (I´m serious...weird, i know) -Don´t put insurance down...only the allowed free $50 Otherwise, letters are definitely ... read more

Ha, yeah right... but, thing are going well and we are learning tons, meeting many, and having an amazing time in the process. This time I have attached pictures of the last few days. Our group went to visit the Alhambra, an old muslim fortress, and then spent all of saturday hanging out at plazas eating and watching life pass us by! The only things Laura and I are missing so far: a laundry dryer!! We get our clothes back hard as rocks because they leave them on the line--we´re thinking about secretly going to a laundromat some time to do our own once in awhile! A couch! We eat on couches at a table in front of the tv every night, but they are only for eating, and staying to watch the news. It is ... read more

A "Montjuic".

Motorhome News from Europe 14. Spain January 2005 Alicante - Mallorca - Palmanova - Palma - Valdemossa - Ebro Delta Valencia & Snow on the beaches in Palmanova, Mallorca This week has been much warmer, with constant sunshine and daytime temperatures of up to 24C. Night times became warmer north of Alicante, contrary to everyone’s predictions that we were heading in the wrong direction and it would be colder further north. The coast south of Valencia yielded loads of excellent birding, with rocky headlands, marshes and flooded rice fields. Significant new species for the list this trip included Red breasted Flycatcher, Tree Sparrow and Water Pipit. Campsites were beginning to empty again. After the bustling coastal sites in the south, this was quite surprising. Perhaps it’s because they’re also quite expensive near Valencia, as with most ... read more

hi everyone, sorry it has been so long between entries...so much to do! We are pretty tired actually from so much travelling, and have been taking it a bit easier the last 2 days here in barcelona. actually not setting an alarm clock has been great! a little more like normal holidays...not that I´m complaining about this holiday in any way....having such a good time! Anyway, shame about the weather in NZ at the mo, hopefully it will turn into summer right when we get back....maybe we should pack some of the spanish and portuguese weather in our suitcases! It has been amazing...especially considering its winter over here! We have seen no rain at all since we left france, and although it has been quite chilly here in barcelona in the evenings, the days have been ... read more

Though we´ve only been here a week, Laura and I feel as though we already know the ropes! Well, not completely, but we´re learning quickly. A lot of things here are different: people don´t visit other people´s houses, if you want to meet a friend, you go to a pub. Cell phones don´t have plans, you put minutes on your phone and use it till it runs out: called selda. They eat a ton---very greasy food. Our señora makes us three meals a day, very filling and says we don´t eat enough even though we leave stuffed!! It´s a good thing we joined a gym.... Also, they don´t have central heating so though it is in the 60s during the day, the nights get cold (20s or 30s) and their houses are very chilly. To ... read more

Oh my gosh....what an amazing country!! I am having the time of my life, it is so fun! Laura and I are living together and get along with our host family wonderfully. Today was our first day of class...we have intensive language for 3 weeks where we go 4 hours a day to learn more spanish, in spanish! My head is spinning... whew! But my profesors are the cooolest! They´re both over forty, but are so young at heart. The night life here is crazy, things don´t open until 1 in the morning and are open all night long....we´re not expected to go home until 4 or 5 in the morning. But, they take siesta seriously, so we get a nap every afternoon after lunch. We are already planning our trips for throughout the semester and ... read more
