Day 1 - Ibiza to Girona Can’t believe the day has finally come for us to leave our lovely little Ibizenco abode to head for (not so) sunnier climates and pastures new. The sun has come out for us for one last time, and the only downside to the start of our day is the fact we’ve had to get up at the unsightly hour of 7.30am. I look and feel like an extra from Sean of the dead, whereas Greg seems quite fresh and raring to go. I wish I could share his enthusiasm, but as he knows well enough by now, give me another 2 or 3 hours and I shall be in a slightly more sociable mood again. Once more we load up wee Charlie, and then soon enough he is being bundled ... read more

We finished up Ireland on Sept 19th. After the beautiful town of Dingle, Ireland we moved on to Kinsale, Ireland. Another gorgeous place. Right on the Seaside, as they would say. Met up with Mike and Marg and Jackie in Kinsale. They had gone off to Killarney but my book friend Rick Steves said to go to Killarney was like going to Arkansa. Not sure why that comment but it was enough to take a pass. We opted for the much smaller more picturesque town of Glengarriff for the night. One main street with lots of pubs and restaurants. Everywhere we went was spectacular. We basically drove the coast all the way around Ireland. The Dingle peninsula was the best. I think the Ring of Kerry is touted as being the most spectacular views but in ... read more

So its now July and we’ve been working away for over a month now. It’s a hard graft as we knew it would be, but we both work roughly the same hours which means we get to see each other, and we get on really well with the people we work with (well that is in our opinion we think we do lol). We’re also enjoying our little flat, its great getting home at night and being able to sit out on the balcony with a beer and some food. A few nights ago we also rescued a little chick from greg’s work. I can’t even describe the look on my face when greg walked in with a tiny bird tucked up inside the sleeve of a cardboard cd cover. The poor little thing had fallen ... read more

Ibiza. The White Island. Ebeso. Mecca. Evissa. Whatever the name, I wanted to get some thoughts down just post-departure from this place. (For the record, this is the toughest entry I’ve tried to write. Words just aren’t enough. Not mine, at least.) After some respectable locations during the first part of this trip, we decided to descend on this mystical, magical isla for three nights. Ten years ago when trying to plan a family trip to Europe, I suggested Ibiza. Dad (rightfully) said no. And we ended up at the sister island, Mallorca; which is an amazing destination in its own right. If you reside in Europe, going to Ibiza is nothing extraordinary. If you like nightlife, you might go at least once a summer. But for us on the other side of the pond, it’s ... read more

Having lived here last year, we thankfully know our way around this time, and so it only takes us ten minutes to find the hotel instead of an hour like it did last year. The hotel is pretty basic but our room is quite big and will definitely do until we manage to sort something else out. The only downside is that the swimming pool has no water in it, but that doesn’t really bother us as we have the car and can therefore head out to some nice beaches instead. Having stocked up on some basic food and drink, we head out to cala salada, one of our favourite beaches on the island. Its only downside is that it is rocks rather than sand, but you can’t beat it for views or the clear, crystal ... read more

I just came across this saved Blog written in December and shelved for a surprise like today. It is a blog written on Christmas day and I realise that it is pertinent to every day! Here goes: Today is special for many people around the World... Today is just another grey day for many others... For me it is a day For Giving. I realise that I have not traveled since the end of March, when I arrived from Rome to get the keys to the restaurant called Ocho and turn it into Nagai... Nine months!!!! It really has been years since I have stayed in one place this long! After all the physical travel of the past years, the time has come for time travel or mental trips or encounters with other dimensions... Today I ... read more

Well here I am, sitting at my desk in SF, my second day back in pharmacy school, and as pleased as I am to be back in the US where the livin’ is easy and nothing seems too far out of reach..I can’t stop reminiscing about all the amazing places I’ve had the opportunity to visit in Europe and the wonderful people I met along the way. I wish I could transport myself back in time just for a moment, to feel the ease of lying on la playa in Barcelona, trying to sip down an ice cold mojito before the summer sun tries to melt it away..Ahhh, I would give anything just to go back for one more day! Buuuuut since I can’t, I figure the next best thing for me to do is to ... read more

Hola! What a trip! We're both exhausted but had amazing times in Valencia for La Tomatina (the Tomato fight) and Ibiza for partying and relaxing. Here's what we got up to: Valencia, Spain. Home of the Valencia Orange for those of you who are thinking that rings a bell.. We did a tour with The Fanatics, along with about 1500 other people for La Tomatina. We set off pretty early in the morning from our place in Acton at around 1am, having to catch 2 night buses, then a shuttle to the airport for a 7:30am flight... Arriving early in Valencia to check into our hotel (and very tired from the journey) We changed from our London gear (jeans and jumpers) into our beach gear as soon as we could! We then were told where we ... read more

I have just dragged myself back to our room to write this, ok so actually I really REALLY needed a minute out of the sunshine and figured that I could do something productive like write this at the same time! Holy heck Ibiza is an AMAZING place! Great start to our holiday, we actually feel like we are on holiday!!! We flew in in the early hours of Saturday morning, made it to our hotel & were the last to check in and the welcoming party was far from impressive – everyone was in town! Debs came back to meet us & was followed not so closely behind by a fairly ... read more
