And we are off... FINALLY!
Three girls, europe, friends, food, drink, sights, shopping... what more could I possibly say?
Just on five weeks to cram in all of this in a number of different locations - a mission we are more than willing to attempt!!
We are under no illusions that we will be able to come home & say we have seen anywhere near enough of that side of the world, this is more the trip that we use to do the recon to plan our following trips!!!!
So as you will read & see we will quite quickly make our way through parts of Spain, a bit of France, mainly the top of Italy, Paris (of course!), a very small part of Germany and then on to lovely London to hang out with friends in their new neck of the woods and ensure our suitcases don't come home empty... like this was ever going to be possible!!! A night in LA on the way to the other side of the world and a night in Hong Kong on the way home (birthday celebrations will conclude our merry wee trip should our livers still be functioning... livers regenerate though right?? & our travel insurance does medical emergencies...)

Anyway we have been waiting 9 LONG months for this trip and as I write this we are only 2 sleeps away from hitting the tarmac outta here!

This blog is intended to be a means of communication with predominantly my mother (so she knows on a regular basis that I am still alive, to some degree!) but also with friends & family... i figure it will save me having to repeat these tales and remove the risk of anyone missing out when I forget stuff (cos I will DEFINATELY forget stuff!)!!!
Work mates I apologise in advance, you read this blog at your own risk... if you do not want to risk your great impression of me being tainted completely ask Nathan for the sugar coated version - I am confident that he will be able to gloss over any particularly embarrassing parts and embellish on the days when I can only manage to write that I am alive but only just!!!
Friends... if your in this catergory I am sure that nothing I write will surprise you, especially if you know the friends we are meeting over there - NOTHING will surprise you!
Family, unfortunately you guys are the biggest suckers, no matter what I put on here you guys are still gonna be related to be and that means love me unconditionally! hahaha lower your opinions of me now, then your less likely to ended up disappointed!!!!

I hope in general that you all enjoy this and I don't offend anyone (by accident!), luckily I don't think any of you are quite that precious!!

Have fun xx

26 September 2011 – sometime early in the morning wherever we are (0635 NZ) LONDON… Tuesday Ngaia, lovely Ngaia, took the day off work & showed us round London town!!! Our day begins with Lou getting us on the Underground & directing us to Hurstys work, The Radison on Bloomsbury St, we are off to a buffet breakfast! YUM! Best cup of tea I have had in AGES!!!! And it is nice to have something other than pastry for breaky!! From here we make our plan for the day, a dawdle down Oxford St (including a look in Top Shop on Oxford St, holy cr*p that shop is RIDICULOUS!) and we are now all proud owners of umbrellas from Primark - £4! Bargain! We end up at Buckingham Palace, the Queen isn’t home so no cuppa ... read more

Im writing this one from London, there was no time in Germany for blogging - ok so there was a bit of time this afternoon, but I was in no state to be putting fingers to keys!! The entry would have been all 'OMG it was amazing" "OMG it was so cool" blah blah blah! following a bit of time for contemplation on our flight, a wee bit of sleep, some sleep & the fact that i have stopped shaking FINALLY I think i am in a much better place! haha The sleeper train arrives, 2.5hrs late! what the heck?? how on earth is this possible? Did the train driver pull over for a wee kip on his way? no idea - anyway, we eventually make it to our hotel to meet everyone else! HOORAY! the ... read more

15 September 2011 2045 (France/Germany, 0645 NZ) Im on my second sleeper train… second one is soooooo much better!! Ill begin at the beginning, the beginning of this entry anyway, Florence, Italy. So I eventually got on my train & we hit the road, im in a cabin with 6 ‘bed’s – ill use that term loosely! Only 4 of us in there – thank goodness!! However… one of the guys is a smoker and one of those ‘I live & smoke in these clothes my whole entire life’ kinda ones, the kind that leaves you smelling the same as him after 12 hours in a 6 berth cabin! Ok ill continue my rant, another occupant snored but he was ok and his travelling companion did this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE coughy thing constantly!!!! OMG, if looks could ... read more

I am approximately 2 hours from leaving Florence & i am purposely sitting here in the hotel breakfast room writing this so that i spend nothing more here!! don't get me wrong, it has all been worth it, but heck i still have 2 weeks to get through!! So since I wrote last... i met up with Ruddy purely by coincidence in the Hotel foyer, she was just coming back to check in properly before checking out some markets a block away... first hit on the credit card = leather jacket!!! Neither of us thought we would shop for new jackets so efficiently but boy we were impressive! (some might call us suckers, but they wouldn't be people with new leather jackets!! haha). The markets were incredible! soooo much leather! sooo many scarves! if it wasn't ... read more

10 September 2011 1536 (Italy, 0136 NZ) Just pulling out of the station in Venice… it would have been so nice to have more time, it would have been so nice to be able to have sent the fabulous wine glasses I came across home AND know that that they would make it intact and make it full stop! My train takes around 2 hours to get to Florence, I think we might have a fair few stops! Perfect timing for a siesta though! Since I last wrote we didn’t really see much more of Milan, just the breakfast room at the hotel & then a trip to the train station – it is already hot and its only 8am – its only going to get hotter im guessing! However as I get messages from home ... read more

Ok so this is the brief run down... We made it to Barcelona, but we did get robbed!! $22 EURO for a stein of sangria EACH just cos we drank it outside on the 'terrace' (the footpath that i bet they pay NO rent for!!!!) and that didn't even include the actual stein, we had to give that back when we were done! we must at least have shares in the 'terrace' surely, if any paperwork arrives for me from spain Ma that will be it!!!! Barcelona was great - too little time though so im gonna have to go back - gutted! haha didn't get to Sangria Familia in the little time we had unfortunately so I am definately gonna have to go back! did enjoy some of Gaudi's other work however, but kinda got ... read more

4 September 2011 1100 (Seville, Spain, 2058 NZ) Today is the day we ditch the friends and head off on our own… well the 3 of us visitors that is and a few semi locals from spain tell us that we are bound to get robbed in Barcelona, all part of the experience right? Wonder how long I can think that if im the one to get robbed! Haha So the last few days have been awesome – we arrived in Seville on Thursday avo after a Ryan Air delay (apparently this is fairly common) & our Seville hosts, Debbie & Paul, were at the airport to meet us! Hooray! They bought us back to their place, they live in a hotel which does a great deal through their work (Airbus Military) so we are in ... read more

It all started on a dark morning, dark but warm, as warm as the days leading up to this moment... im running outta internet time though & the heat has zapped my creativity - memory & creativity gone - is there any hope for me? So anyway 7am we hit the beat to catch a tube then train, we only have $20 each tucked in to our bras or shoes as we have nothing but the 2-3 layers of clothing we are wearing on us... we get to the tube station, the nearest one that will sell us a train ticket too... it will only accept coins - trick for young players! 30 August 2011 1850 (Valencia, 0453 NZ) Ugh it is so hot! Not a complaint, merely a statement! we are spending our days in 30-ish degrees heat, I swear its that temp like all day!! So anyway, SPACE, holy crap, Ibiza clubs are HUGE! Only saw one ‘terrace’ thing too and that was big enough to get lost in! We headed to the club in 2 taxis travelling at high speeds, anyone would have thought the guy wanted to get us out of his cab asap!! Hot, sweaty, standard club scene in that respect - €15 for water apparently!!! All danced up a storm but were all home again before the sun came up!! Would love to tell you more… I have some photographic evidence & between us all we can put snippets of the evening ... read more

Holy heck Ibiza is an AMAZING place! Great start to our holiday, we actually feel like we are on holiday!!! We flew in in the early hours of Saturday morning, made it to our hotel & were the last to check in and the welcoming party was far from impressive – everyone was in town!
