After arriving in Marbella, we settled into our Pension that we were staying at. It was actually fairly nice, really cheap 2 bed room all to ourselves, with towels, a TV (that we later found out didn´t work), and an air conditioning machine! What a luxury! This was high living to us :) Sasha had found out that her dad´s girlfriends´s son Seann, and his girlfriend Sarah were vacationing in Marbella, so we were looking forward to seeing them again. We had stayed with them two nights in Fulham, London so it had been awhile since we had seen them. Sasha and I decided to take naps before the evening got started, so we slept until about 6, then got ready to meet Sean and Sarah at the Plaza of the Oranges. Marbela is a beautiful ... read more

January 2011 - Camping Cabopino, Marbella Mixed in with school and domestics have been some very enjoyable activities shared with fellow campers. On the evening of 5th we went to Marbella to see the procession of the Three Kings. This date is important to Spanish children as this is when they traditionally receive their Christmas presents. The procession of floats passes through the town, during the journey sweets are thrown to the crowds. We now have enough boiled sweets to last the rest of the trip ! We played a mean petanque competition against our fellow campers with Maxine winning the Cup and Ben the Plate and the Morris family taking home all the prize money ! Ker-ching ! Bill proved his culinary expertise with a BBQ and a Paella Sunday Special on both occasions the ... read more

Friday 17th December – Wednesday 29th December 2010 Due to the generosity of a friend offering the use of his villa over Christmas we move the few km to Puerto Banus. The following day we had a major storm with thunder and lightning for seven hours – quite spectacular. The electricity supply failed just as dinner came out of the oven so we ate by candlelight. Could have been worse we could have been camping ! Sam finally joins us at the third attempt after his original and following flights were cancelled due to lack of cabin crew caused by bad weather. The following few days were spent preparing for Christmas - Presents, Tree, Decorations, Food and Drinks shopping. Wednesday 22nd December Bill and Carole came over for El Gordo ( the fat one ) the ... read more

Saturday 11th – Thursday 16th December 2010 Having realised our screen problem was likely to take some time to resolve we decided to press on to Marbella rather than make the journey there a two stage event as planned. A five hour drive ended at Camping Cabapino located between Fuengirola and Marbella on the Costa del Sol. It sits back from the main A7 road ( where buses can be caught in either direction along the coast ) and close to Puerto Cabapino , a small harbour with a selection of bars and restaurants. The site offers a good choice of activities even though out of season. We took advantage - Target Shooting ( air rifle ), Rollerblading, Archery, Climbing and Abseiling plus Spanish lessons and Line Dancing. Here we met Bill and Carole again ! ... read more

Well we finally made it to Algeciras, paid the ransom on our itty bitty rental car and got the hell out of there. We made it to Marbella, entered into the game of where to stash the car (parking is the main sport in most of urban Spain), found a parking garage for a whopping 18 euros a night and headed onto the street to look for a place to stay. We were immediately helped by a girl passing by us looking stupidly at our map who brought us to a little street that had a few hostels on it. We chose a little place called the Pilarica and it was awesome, run by a little old dude and his wife who welcomed us and hooked us up with a room for 35 euros a night. ... read more
