Split....bye bye...and back on the road, this time again avoiding most highways. The road from Zadar to Rijeka is really nice....with thousand of turns. I have to admit these turns are not the friends of Leslie...and for me...well, I needed to stay focus on all these turns...but this place is beautiful. This is true till you reach the area of Rijeka who lose all interest as a big industrial port. Next, we crossed the border to Slovenia, and there, in a few minutes the land changes in an impressive manner. Imagine, both countries have been part of Yugoslavia for years, but the two seem so different today. I just couldnt go over another narrow, winding mountain pass. Every slovenian we met, told us that the drive to Bohinj over the mountain pass - is difficult and hard. When we were rafting our guide had asked us if we were taking the "car train" to Bohinj? Of course my ears picked up when I heard car train- finally an answer to my problem. Well sure enough there is a car train. You drive your car on to the car carriage, you sit in the car and an hour later (compared to the 2 1/2 hours it would take by car) your'e at Bohinj. Hi all, We arrived and somehow a whole week already passed. Wow, how time flies! We started the week in a very outdoor mood. We hiked a few hours every day - carrying children on our backs - up and down hills, through valleys and forests. By the end of the week we crashed with a kind of tiredness that you can only feel by doing too much physical outdoor activity and sleeping away from your regular bed. Something akin to how you feel after a week of basic training in the army :) Also, similar to basic training is the fact that looking back at the experience, the stories can be told with increasing exaggeration for decades to come.... If you see me walking around and saying " In a hundred years from now it won't make a difference" you know Im not in my calmest mood. This mantra for some reason keeps me calm when I am dealing with high pressure situations which seems to be more often then not. As you can see from our pictures, we are just in nirvana and stress is the farthest thing from my mind. Four little houses, great views, amazing weather that ranges from warm to rainy ( a great change from the middle east heat). Paraglider's sailing over the mountain crest and mornings with the sun shining telling us its time to wake up. We try and do at least one hike a day.
