Next stop after Salzburg was Ljubljana, Slovenia. A really beautiful city with a river running through it, a castle, lots of old architecture, you know the usual here in europa. There must be something in the water there because 9/10 females were stunning, it was like walking into some twilight zone town. We toured the castle, which had a really nice view of the whole city and environs. Stayed at a great hostel that was converted from a prison into this artsy place with a bar/restaurant/hooka lounge. Saw a gypsy band perform, good times. Right next door to the hostel was a place called Metelkova, it's this converted military barracks that a bunch of artists/punks took over after the army left long ago. A random taxi driver in Manchester was the inspiration for this trip! On the way to the airport on a trip to Spain, he was raving on about his wonderful holiday to Slovenia - he was a persuasive man! A little seed was sewn in my mind and Slovenia nudged it's way to the top of my next-to-go-to places! ... and let me say THANK YOU taxi man! Slovenia doesn't disappoint and it was one of the friendliest and most beautiful countries I've been to! We chose to go in Autumn (kind of half thinking we'd do the Ljubljana Half Marathon - which did not happen!). Due to budget constraints, we basically found the cheapest flights to anywhere nearby. Cez en teden odletim v Avstralijo, kjer bom 14 dni delal in en teden dopustoval, potem pa me cakajo se 4 dnevi Singapurja, Vse skupaj izpadejo 4 tedni. Zdaj pa se nekaj zahval: Moji punci Tanji gre zahvala za to, da me bo pogresala med potovanjem :) Nasi tajnici Ajdi gre zahvala za odlicno zrihtane karte za avion. Moji sosolki s srednje sole Ursuli pa hvala, ker mi je posilja svoja porocila iz Kolumbije, ki jih lahko vidis tukaj . Well....It has been little over a week since my last entry, and so much has happened. Vienna to Lake Bled, Slovenia and now the capital of Slovenia Ljubljana (Loob leeyaana). We spent two days in Vienia, where my mom studied for 4 months. I had been there before, but the weather was terrible and I did not have a good feeling about the city. This time we decided to take a bike tour the first day and really got a great overview of a wonderful and beautiful city, full of art, culture and a ton of history that has shaped the world as we know it. 17 sierpnia - Ljubljana Rano szybkie sniadanie, znowu ze Szwajcarami - oni chyba caly tylko czas jedza ;) nie, nie, wygladaja na aktywnych turystow i maja fajne latareczki, tez chce taka;) Ale to kiedys, moze w przyszlym roku. Szybko jedziemy do stolicy. Szukamy jakiegos miejsca do zaparkowania, co graniczy z cudem. Znajdujemy je gdzies na osiedlu domkow, ale niedaleko od centrum jak sie poniej okazuje. Ljubljana jest malutka, tak malutka, ze idac dochodzimy do glownego placu nie zdajac sobie sprawy, ze to centrum turystyczne miasta. Znajduje sie na nim centrum informacji skad bierzemy plan miasta i zaczynamy zwiedzanie. Na placu znajduje sie most Triple Bridge (Tromostevje), Frančiškanska cerkev i maly market. Nad miastem kroluje zamek Ljubljanski grad, od razu postanawiamy sie wdrapac na wzgorze, zeby podziwiac panorame miasta. Schodzimy na dol i biegniemy zobaczyc Pa ... read more
