We have been out of this World No, that is not true. But when you read about the place dad took us to this summer you might think so. Well, let's tell the story from the start. In the end of this summer dad told us he would bring us to Hell. We thought he was joking of course. There are limits on where you can travel and since Hell is not in this World that is definitely a place you can't go to. We have known that for a long time. Hey, we may only be cuddly toys but we are not stupid. But it turned out dad wasn't joking. He did bring us to Hell. Well, he didn't actually bring us to "Hell - home of Lucifer" but to "Hell - a small village ... read more

Two days visiting Trondheim Norway is a very nice country with wonderful people and astonishing nature. I like Norway a lot but for various reasons I don't visit our western neighbours very often. But now in August I had both the time and the opportunity to visit Trondheim for a few days so I decided to give it a "go". Trondheim is a city with old traditions. For more than 1000 years there's been a sizeable settlement at the estuary of the Nidelva River in the Trondheimsfjord on the west coast of Norway. A long time ago Trondheim was the capital of Norway and the city has also been a popular pilgrimage site. In Trondheim I first visited Kristansten Fortress, sitting on a hill east of the city centre. The fortress was built in the end ... read more

Trondheim is another beautiful city. The nice thing about all the places I visited is the livability factor; great public transportation, helpful tourist offices, everyone speaks English and most things are with in walking distance. I did a quick tour of the town and then met up Idun, Claire and Carleigh Ryan and their friend from Monica. Spent an enjoyable after noon with them before I caught the night train to Oslo. Arrived in Oslo in the morning, sleeping on the train saves a paying for a room as long as you don´t mind missing a shower or two, and it gives you more time to track down a room for the next night. Oslo was nice but didn´t have the comfortable feeling I got in many other cities. Toured the museums and cathedrals and shared ... read more

Staying with the family in Trondheim has been such an amazing experience. Oddney and Ingvar are the sweetest couple. Oddney is crazy with her wedge heels and bright colored clothing--she woke us up this morning by calling up the stairs, "Good moooooorning, my girls!! I tink it is time fo' you to git up!" They were so welcoming to us and even though Ingvar couldn't speak as much English as the rest of the family, he was still cracking jokes and wanting to be a part of every conversation. Their daughter, Janne (yan-nuh) lives right above them with Roar and their daughters. They were also very sweet to us and we went up there as well to sit on the deck and have beverages. They were so surprised when Kathleen and I would ask for ... read more

Kathleen and I are currently located in a city that's a ferry ride and an hour and half drive through the country from Trondheim. We're staying with Oddney and Ingvar, two vivacious grandparents, in a 300 year old house on the water of a fjord. The house is big, but the ceilings and doorways are very low and I feel like a giant in a dollhouse. I've only hit my head on the ceiling twice today! Oddney is Kathleen's dad's 2nd cousin and Oddney (pronounced UHD-NEE) has a daughter and three grandchildren that live above them. The grandchildren are Iseline (20), Martine (13), and brother, Broge, who's 12. We arrived here by train from Oslo (7 hours) yesterday afternoon and have been hanging out with Iseline and Martine since then. We got a tour of ... read more

List of Ports: 18th May Friday Flaam to Laanefjorden 19th May Saturday Laanefjorden to Kjeringevaagen (NW Nesoeyna) 20th May Sunday Kjeringevaagen to Floroe 9:50 am We all had breakfast before departure, don’t know what to expect outside the cove. Rained and blew most of the night but at the moment it’s clear blue skies, a little windy. Lars has put out just the Jib and we are doing 8 - 10 knots. Winds are not as high as yesterday but we are going with the wind and it’s alot more comfortable. The countryside is changing with alot more farms scattered thoughtout the small islands. The islands are lower than in the fjords. 16:05 pm We arrived at Floroe quite early. The harbour has been expanded with floating jetties. It looks funny looking at the chart ... read more

From Antarctica in the south I have now reached the Arctic circle and the land of fjords and vikings-Norway. And what wonderful scenery on the way. I have been heading slowly north in search of the midnight sun viewing the fjords and lakes along the way, and I must say that even though I didn't see the actual sun at midnight-just lots of cloud-it has been very strange to have constant daylight for a whole week!!. Koalas can't sleep if it's not dark so I didn't get much sleep (well maybe some can sleep in the daylight)(actually all of them can just not this one!). I have also been having some adventure here. I climbed a ski jump-lots of steps-needed a big rest after that one. Went for a fjord cruise, hiked for an hour to ... read more
