We are already a few days here. Enjoying very nice weather and starting to get ready for the Europe tour. We had a birthday party as well. We will spent the day with shopping and setting things up. It was a nice reception by Jola and Hugo in Etten leur. Jola cooked a nice tea with our favourite vegie, Brussels lof. Very nice. She had rolled the lof in bacon. At night we saw the soccer. It runs from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the morning. We do not get much sleep. Coming Wednesday we will leave, direction Germany. We did more shopping. Jola & Hugo took us to a new supermarket. It is enormous. There are different stalls where you can pick your own food. Very cheap, you take it to a special area ... read more

Windmills - what windmills? So we arrive in this little tiny harbour in a place called Alblasserdam – you try saying that to the ferry lady - with the intention of going to see 16 famous windmills by using our legs and pedalling. Instead the nice havenmeester says that there is a SPECTACLE in Dordrecht, just a 15min ferry ride away – so off we go. The sun comes out and we zoom down the very large waterway in a Waterbus going we reckoned at 30kt. It is a steam Spectacle and spectacular it is – most of the engines – steam engines (full size and miniature), steam pumping things, fairground steam generators, steam dredging things, boats, and you name it seemed to come from the UK but it was a very impressive show – apparently ... read more

Day four we finally got away…at 1530…so a short trip and then moored up in a jachthaven opposite Gorinchem which meant we had to face the big barges for the first time on the enormous Waal, about as wide as the Thames at the QEII bridge. The marina was FULL of the most expensive motor boats you have seen – well apart from Sunseeker in Poole – the most expensive one we could find was 950k. The harbourmaster told us that 50% of them were for sale and that he had sold nothing this year. That people were making offers of only 50% of the asking price. But then he asked us if we would like to sell our boat and we said no we are living on her!! You can imagine our surprise when 3 ... read more

BOATS AND WEATHER!!! By 1600 on the 9th, Isabela had been lifted in and was on her new mooring, with canopy up and many other things back in place. A good job because it was blowing old boots – when isn’t it? – and at times pouring with rain and accompanying thunder and lightning. We were exhausted, fell into bed by 9pm UK time and slept 11 hours! Drimmelen is enormous – about 1200 boats near the base of a cooling tower and 2 big chimneys but it really doesn’t matter and this is where it is planned Isabela will stay, not in a tent but in a proper large house, for the winter. The following day the weather continued to be terrible, there were jobs to be done and then we discovered we had a ... read more

Enveloped in the darkness, and flying in this metal contraption at thirty thousand feet, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. Looking back at this past year, I realized how tired I felt. Though I've learned much, I've also had to deal with a lot more stress than is probably healthy. Any excuse to escape from this twisted rat race of society, even for a short while, is very welcome. Here I was heading to Roadburn festival 2014! I've longed to experience European festival culture, and at last I finally would. The Roadburn festival began more than ten years ago in Tilburg, a city in the south of the Netherlands. It consists of bands specializing in heavy metal, doom, black, progressive, experimental and psychedelic genres. One of my favourite bands of all time, Opeth, ... read more

Ozan bizi Yunan lokantasında buldu..... read more

To every trip, there comes and end, and today it’s the day. Jordan was a great adventure, and I really feel myself privileged to visit this great country with it’s beautiful treasures. My highlights were: Petra, especially the Treasury, is without doubt the most beautiful thing I ever saw in my life. Floating in the Dead Sea, everyone should do that. Wadi Rum, beautiful sights, the climbs and a great camel ride. Wadi Dana, this hike was really adventures and the nature park is so beautiful and Madaba, much art, friendly people and a great atmosphere here. The local people were hospitable, and gave a great sight in their lives. But now, it was time to go home, back to the Netherlands and say farewell to this great country. We had to be early at the ... read more

On our way from Middelburg to Willemstad, we found that this was a busy waterway with boats of all sizes and types. When going through the lock you never know how crowded it will be – sometimes you are in the lock with only a couple of other pleasure boats and others you are sharing the lock with a barge. Here barges are not pushed by separate tug boats – the “tug” part is actually part of the barge itself. Families live on these barges and you can see that the living area is usually fixed up with curtains, plants at the windows and the family car on the “roof”. Fortunately many of these types can fit through the locks with us. In other areas they have 2 or more locks next to each other – ... read more
