Returning to Madrid following Toledo was bitter sweet. Madrid was a big city...but gorgeous at night. Parting from Nic, who I was originally travelling with, at the Madrid airport, Nic leaving to London to return to his family and myself in search of my italian roots?! I hopped an easyjet flight to Milan as it was the cheapest flight into Italy, and decently close to the home of the Simonettis! Almost missing a bus into Milan, and then shortly there after sprinting to catch a train into the small town of Pavia...I was picked up by my..3rd cousins husband.. Antonio! Antonio then took me to him and his wife Marinas home 300 metres from the mediterranean sea. I was greeted by three beautiful and amazing kids, Jennifer 7, Francesco, 6 and Gwilliamo, 3. I spent the ... read more

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone! Well, it has been an exciting 8 days. I left Ljubljana early on the 23rd for Italy, to join my Zia Marlene and Zio Luigi for a wonderful Christmas is Genoa! Five uneventful hours on a train and an additional four by car, we arrived to a beatiful, sunny, 15 degree Mediterranean Coast that was absolutely refreshing after 2 months of fog in Ljubljana! Strange having palm trees and ocean spray on Christmas day, but I'm not complaining! Christmas day, I woke up early (ahem... 9am) to my mom phoning (midnight her time!) to say Merry Christmas, which was great to wake up to! I then spent 3 hours preparing for everyone's arrival with my uncle's niece (Erika) running up and down 2 flights of stairs about 19 times ... read more

Ok so back to English! It is now Sunday night and I am writing this entry sitting in my room listening to the Italian radio and just chilling out. As I reflect on the last three weeks (as I do when I try to write this blog) a lot has happened in this time. True to my style of not wanting to sit in the one place to long (thanks mum for reminding me of this). I have been in some serious giro (going around!). So the story begins with a quick trip up to Milano to visit one of my hobie mates Lara Sicouri and her family home! It was a short visit of only one night (as Milano is so close 1.5hrs away) so I can do these short visits. It was really nice ... read more

So the first thing I did before I decided to write today was to try and figure out when was the last time that I wrote, and I just figured that it has been five weeks, my longest stint without committing anything to writing on my trip to date! Perhaps there are reasons for this, the first is that I spent my first two weeks in Genova discovering the city, reading all the tourist information guides, theatre guides, getting lots of sleep, cooking lots of food and of course starting at a new school. My first two weeks in Genova I timed my arrival into Genova perfectly as on my first weekend here the biggest boat show in the world namely Salon di Nautica that is held in Genova annually was on, the boat show is ... read more

Ciao Ragazzi, Come Va? Io sono molto beneā€¦.. So it has been a couple of weeks since my last entry. For some reason I always choose Fridays (yet again today) to scrivo (write) my blog entries. After countless emails from people arriving to work on Monday morning receiving my email alerts I am so sorry that you have to hear about my adventures on a Monday morning, but for some reason it is entirely coincidence and hey why change my behaviour now! The adventure left off just as I was about to visit (visito) Sorrento, Vesuvio and Herculaneum all in one weekend. Ill start with Sorrento, Maria and I took this trip on Saturday morning and we decided as it was such a lovely day that we would take the trip by boat via Amalfi ... read more

Got a few updates for you so here goes!!!! We left Venice a while ago we think!! Didnt really know where we were going so decided to head for Genoa on the other side of Italy. Ended up travelling all the way there in a day which took about 8 hours, after the long journey we didnt fancy finding a camp site so found a hotel instead, with a much needed pool of course. It was on the coast west of Genoa in a place called Celle Ligure, it was a lovely sea side town with no English people...........bliss!! Could only afford one night there though so it was off to find a camp site the next day Ragz + Kez xx... read more

soo.. its been a long time! Everything is going unreal! We're both doing really well and having an amazing time exploring Europe. So far we've done the west coast countries and they surpast our expectations. We've seen some amazing sights and had a great time. Now we are at our half way point ... can you believe it!?!? We split our trip to Italy up into two parts with our trip to Greece being in the middle. Going back to the 9th of July.... VIVA ITALIA!! Italy beat France in the World Cup final and guess where we were ... ITALY! it was unreal! We arrived in Italy on the 9th and you could feel the excitment in the air just at the train station in Genova. We made our way up to the hostel that ... read more

So as per the recommendation of the Owen WIlson look a like we met on the Paris metro we are headed out to Cinque Terre today. Its a group of 5 little villages along what is supposed to be some of the most beautiful coast line in the world. The hike is long but you can go swimming in the Meditteranian (spelling?) whenever so thats cool. We met this couple from Nashville yesterday who were as lost as we were trying to find the only hostel in Genoa which is at the top of a huge hill. Side note: Italian bus drivers are not to be triffled with, they hurtle down streets barely big enough for one bus and squeeze past busses going the other way. All the while with scooters shooting through the middle. But ... read more

While it was still dark out the owner Mark & Elizabeth took their dog Dante for his morning constitution, Andy stumbled into the shower laterally at 06:15 he had stayed out on the dock with other cursers until the wee hours of the morning drinking wine, beer and I am sure what ever was going free on the dock. I rolled over in my bunk it felt like I had slept for less than 10 hours in the last 48, which in retrospect was still 50% more than Andy; I was interested to see how the morning would go. I showered and dressed in my new white Windsong Tee and blue shorts the crew would wear for the time the owners were on board, then it would be board shorts and welcome to Florida vests. ... read more

Been in Genoa Italy since Saturday arrived at the ship to find that they had off loaded earlier than scheduled for the boat and Andy were gone, of course the battery on my cell phone was flat and the new 12V charger I purchased is in the cabinet draw behind the desk. I managed to get a ride from the port security back to hotel where Andy had been staying, after settling his account (good job I stopped by) I used their telephone to call all of the marinas in Genoa to find out who had a reservation for Windsong, found her on the third try and he was just tying up, so another 35E taxi fare later I was at the boat, and what a mess she was, apparently the company we hired to ... read more
