The Easter Bunny got up early on Easter Sunday to deliver Easter Eggs, but was bet by Carlo who was already up reading. The Easter Bunny quietly hopped its way around the house, into the kitchen, lounge and fire place hiding Easter Eggs for everyone. It even placed one right in front of Carlo without him even noticing! - He thought It was just an ‘inquisitive cat!’... or in this case, bunny. We all got up and found a big basket of large Easter eggs that Carlo’s parents had given us - I’m liking the Italian hospitality so far! We had breakfast outside on the patio again and then someone informed us that the Easter Bunny had been!!! We searched around the house in random corners and in behind various things. Each finding an Easter egg ... read more

We started the day in style with breakfast outside on the patio in the fresh air, listening to the birds sing. First location for the day was Cividale, the closest town to Carlo’s house in Torreano. Cividale is what I’d describe as a typical Italian town, perhaps mainly for the architecture but also the narrow walkways between the tall very old buildings, with their shutters and flower boxes. They had recently done some restoration work on the town and found on one building that under the surface was ancient paintings on the walls, probably dating back 100s of years. After looking through the town we walked down the ‘Devil’s Bridge’, a grand old stone bridge over the beautiful Natisone River. The river was stunning, with steep cliffs down to the very clear blue water below. We ... read more

Hey all!! Just got back a couple hours ago from Venice with Nicole. Wow. So I got up early yesterday and caught the train to Venice. Nicole said she would meet me at the train station at 11 am. So I waited for her... And waited some more. I waited over 2 hours. By then I thought... You know what? She probably missed her plane or something and I don't have a phone for her to get a hold of me soooo... Crapola? I walked to a Internet Cafe to see if maybe she had emailed me to say she'd missed her plane. Nope. No email from my cousin. So I walk back to the train station and there she is with her Asolo pack and her mother of a purse looking exhausted and really confused. ... read more

Hello Everyone, I am writing on sad terms. My Aunt's friend Allison just got very bad news. Two nights ago, the night before her birthday her boyfriend got in a very bad accident. He was riding his Vespa and was hit by a car, who's driver wasn't watching where they were going. He is in critical condition and in the hospital. He has swelling on the brain in 3 places, trouble with his spleen and neck. Yesterday the swelling on his brain got so bad that they had to preform an emergency operation on him even though he was still in a coma. Today he seemed to be stable, but we just got a call saying that they think he might be brain dead now. I'm asking that everyone send prayers, blessings and healing energy to ... read more

Hi everyone... So I got my hairs cut on Tuesday!! It looks awesome. My hair dresser was Italian, but she's been in London hair dressing for the last 2 years so she speaks fluent English. We had a grand time and she did a good job on my hair. She also invited me out for coffee and a walk so she can show me around Trieste (she's born and raised). Hurray! So Derek is in Granada and has already made some new friends (he's so good at that!). They headed off yesterday with a rented car to see the Sierra Nevada Mountains for 3 days!! I bet he's going to have a load of fun! Lucky boy! Just hope he doesn't free his little bum off since it's cold there (he says) and we ME ... read more

Hey everyone!! So everything has been fairly slow here in Trieste. Today it is very cloudy and gray, cold (but not in Northern Ontario terms) and rainy. There have been rumors that it will snow tomorrow... Wow. That would be nuts!! Tomorrow I am getting my hair cut!! Wahoo! I will post pictures when I get it cut... I am VERY excited. Derek is off to Venlencia today! It is very packed there because of some sort of festival so he might not be able to find a hostel or hotel but will camp instead. I miss him a lot... :( Yesterday I wrote this BIG, long rambling email about the crappy night I had before and then I pressed the wrong button and lost it all!! AHHHH. Yeah... That's fun. So instead I just took ... read more

Sorry it's been awhile... (Do I always start like that?...) So! The farm has been good. Not so much in the way of adventures there. Alex is still driving everyone looney and everyone else is grand! So! Saturday Derek and I and Claire go into Valls for a day-off trip. Claire would like to find the swimming pool that is shown on the map and take a dip! I bring my bathing suit along as well for good measure. So we walk to where the pool is shown on the map. We circle the area (which is fenced), but cannot see the pool. There are footballers and such but no pool that we can see... Hmmm. Odd. So we go in to the outdoor complex (does that even make sence?) and asked 4 people where the ... read more
