We got all way to the gate and were about 45 minutes before boarding when Robert remembered he forgot his wallet!! Oh my gosh, if only he had remembered earlier since we got to the airport 2 ½ hours before our flight and would have ha plenty of time to go get it. Poor guy - he really felt bad about that but we couldn’t really do anything about it at that point. Luckily we have mom with us and her American express card if we get into a jam. I didn’t bring mine since I knew Robert was going to bring his. Hopefully, my debit card will get us through this vacation. The really bad thing about it is he doesn’t have his drivers license and he really needs to drive us. I don’t want ... read more

Dear Diary, I was almost run over by two ten-year olds on a bike. Yesterday I was out for a run in my neighborhood Santry, which is just north of the city center in Dublin. The north side of the Liffey which divides the city in two has always been considered a little less posh, maybe a little more working class if you will, compared to the south side of the Liffey. It is still a safe place, but I've been told there are parts that get a little sketchy the further north and west you go in the city. Big heroin problems still in Dublin, think the movie "Trainspotting" only the Irish version. Now to the important part of my tale: The children in this town are generally terrible. Although I can't say that I've ... read more

Geo: 53.4129, -8.24389Well, we made it to Ireland. I almost lost Stacy on the Express train to the airport. The doors opened to get off. We let the other people get off and then got our luggage. The door closed on Stacy's luggege and we couldn't open it. A woman released the door just long enough for Stacy to get off and then it left with me still on it screaming for someone to open the door. Luckily, it came back to the same station after about 15 mins. Dublin was nice. We spent 3 days there before we left on our driving trip to Kilorglin. I caught a head cold in Dublin and then passed on to Stacy. See, we share everything. We went to the Dingle Penninsula and Killarney National Park. Both were spectacular. ... read more

On Saturday, Aimee and I were on our way to IRELAND. We flew using Ryan Air, the "always on-time airline". Personally, I believe this is false advertising and their new slogan the "always delayed and makes everything an inconvenience airline." I will explain a little bit later. In order for you to fly to Dublin, you have to fly out of the Gatwick Airport which is about 30-40 in from Kensington. In order to get to the Gatwick Airport, you have to take the tube to Victoria Station, and then take a train to the Gatwick Airport. It was a little bit of work, but we did get our flights for practically nothing. So, we our on our way to the airport. We arrive at the airport about an hour and a half before our flight ... read more

We got wild in Wicklow. Well, we actually just took a tour bus there, but our tour bus was called Wild in Wicklow, ha. The first picture is a random of me and the girls that I intern with. They're both awesome, Laura from CT and Andrea is from FL. Interning at Geary Institute is now 5,000 times better with them with me. Once we met eachother we went out on the town and that's a picture from that evening! yay. Back to Wicklow...it's a smaller town about an hour south of Dublin--so still on the eastern part of the country. It was extremely beautiful, of course. This county was also where the movie "P.S. I love you" was filmed...so I was secretly looking for Gerry (or a guy that looked like Gerry) to bring back ... read more

Wow! What a day today was. I went exploring in my little rental car (that unfortunately didn't have aircon) and the weather was amazing. Not accustomed to intense sunshine in June, it was magnificent as I drove around. I left Crosshaven at 10am and drove toward Cork city and through a tunnel under the harbor and Eastward to a little village called castlemarter. There I turned right and ended up at a beach called Garyyvoe. Intending to stay for about an hour, I went for swim (deceptively cold compared to the air temp). Then I lay down on the sand for half an hour and woke up at 3pm. I think my body clock is still in Oz. Not content with being a little sunburnt, I headed further eastward through Bally-Coton to youghal. A cool little ... read more

Our experience in Dublin was about this quick... 1) Huge needle in the sky, we were told it was the Biggest building in Europe... but actually only in Dublin city center. 2) We saw Anna Freedman, which was awesome, eventhough she was our bartender. 3) Beer at noon. 4) On one hour of sleep and won't sleep til Paris. (about 30 hours from DC to Paris with 1 hour of sleep). 5) No leprecans.... read more

I'm updating again right away. Ha. It was really fun coming back here again, but I must say that Dublin has sure changed a lot! I dunno if I just imagine it or if the big, ultra modern buildings were here in 2006. I really enjoyed realizing that I still remembered the city centre quite well. A geek shop where I bought my Wolverine posters is still there, but the 24/7 pc games place (I bet most of them played WoW) is no longer there. I really like Dublin, it's such a mixed up, muggled up, shook up world*. A lime green shop wall, you look up, and see a really dirty, gray brick wall above it. A walk of, what, 50 metres around the Temple Bar area, and I saw three musicians and a guy ... read more

Yesterday I * walked around (mostly because museums and such were closed when I arrived) * for several minutes, chatted with a garbage man who - knew that Helsinki is the capital of Finland, but couldn't remember Stockholm - doesn't think he'd like having a lip ring - should consider opening a tourist information centre * couldn't understand how to get the key card system in hostel to work (locks seriously dislike me!), here's hoping I'll manage today * was really annoyed at one girl in the dorm who didn't whisper when people tried to sleep, and accordingly lost one of my earplugs, and realized my ears are too small for them anyway * took loads of photos of buildings. So pretty! * came across soooo many Finns (all of them probably took the same plane ... read more

Woke up this morning with a very sore head! Not that the alcoholic beverages weren't of top quality, I just drank too much for someone who just travelled half way around the world. I was drinking Murphys and Bulmers ...Murphys is like the local Guinness in Cork and Bulmers is an alcoholic apple cider....I recommend it! I think I had it before in the USA but it was called Magners..identical and great After rising from my camper bed in John's TV room, I eventually got my thoughts together. Then we got out and about about 3pm.......we didn't go far!! We got a sandwich in a snackbar on the waters edge in Crosshaven and we went back to Cronin's for a few more Murphys. We didn't stay long so and just chilled out on the pier for ... read more
